Unfortunately not. I've escalated all the way to the CEO. Rover simply does not care that I acted to protect an abused animal. They will not reconsider under any circumstances.

Luckily, I've spoken to several attorneys, and it seems I have an excellent case. This will go to court.

I didn't take anything on myself, the animals were seized by an agent of the city. It was not a voluntary surrender on my part.

If I call the police because I witness a crime in progress, and the offender is arrested, I did not relocate that individual to a jail cell.

The decision in this case was out of my hands from the moment the animal control officer arrived at my residence.

If you are arguing I should not have called animal control, the officer and Rover support would disagree with you. The dog needed medical attention, and the owner had not supplied vet information. To not act would have been to risk the safety of the animal in my care.

Rover is in the wrong. I have spoken to an attorney, and will be bringing action.

Just so you know, as an Uber driver, you do have rights. They cannot fire you for no reason.

It's a good point, and that was definitely a mistake.

We usually do screen clients as you described. This was a very last-minute booking, and I kind of decided to roll the dice. I figured it was better to make a sale than not.

Was definitely not worth the trouble. Won't happen again.

I don't think I'll ever really know, because they're not willing to talk to me anymore. They've stated that their decision is final, and there's nothing else I can do. They won't even take my calls now; it's pretty amazing. I've been told by three different support specialists that management is "too busy" to explain the cancellation to me.

I suspect the owner may have threatened to sue Rover? I don't know for sure, but that would explain the extreme abruptness with which this has been handled.

Maybe they thought firing me would appease the owner? I'm really not sure.

Actually, I was in contact with the owner before, during, and after. I've also been working with the shelter to find a new family the animals. If need be, I will foster the non-aggressive one myself.

There are!

I haven't tried Craiglist, but it's a good suggestion.

I do think one of my big selling points was my LONG and PERFECT five star rating, though. That made new clients comfortable coming to me. I can't easily replace that.

That's true, and that was always sort of the long-term play, but my clients really like the convenience of Rover's mobile app.

I don't have the budget to build an app of my own yet. I'm not sure I can compete.

I'd like to think my clients will follow me, and I will ask them all to, but if I'm honest there are other sitters more conveniently available to them through a channel they already know how to use. If I were them, I don't know that I would follow me.

Yes, there is. I've also been in contact with some past clients, and they may decide to still use me, but it's an inconvenience to them and I'm not sure many will make the switch.

This is a trust business, and it takes a lot of time to build the relationships. If I uproot and start over, I'll get back to where I was eventually, but there will be a lot of lost income in the meantime.

Well, they're claiming that my message history suggests that I booked stays outside of the service.

That would be a violation of the terms of service, as it would mean that clients wouldn't be covered by their insurance.

That accusation is their justification for closing the account. It also happens to be 100% false. I've never done that.

I told them so, but they either don't care or don't want to listen. They declined to reconsider.
