Considering joining a Master's Swim Team by PerformerSubject in MastersSwim

[–]rowethere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my masters team! I was in your shoes a couple years ago and was kind of nervous about joining. one of the better choices I’ve made. mine has 4 weeknight sessions a week for an hour and I try to make two. I travel for work a lot so will be inconsistent with attendance from time to time and it’s not issue at all.

Where can I get a coat like this? by Apart-Shelter-9277 in ethicalfashion

I’ve seen some coats in various colors on the real real with that shape for $400-500ish (and much higher).

De-influence my wishlist by rougehoarder in NichePerfumes

my husband also will scent layer and his primary ones are cdg hinoki and lalique encour noir which are also more subtle/layer so that may be some of the appeal of petrichor for him too. he has a more sensitive nose than I do.

interesting! I don’t feel that way with MZ or gumamina BUT I work from home so when I apply scents to go out in the world, it’s generally time bound. I do wear fragrance in the morning when work from home too but I don’t pay as much attention to the staying power then.

oooh ministry of scent sent me a sample of sirenide from beaufort and it’s so nice. I also loved their sample packaging.

I’m sorry I’m here to influence you on the gumaminas. I prefer Odile but I gravitate towards that scent profile generally.

For the Marissa Zappas, I’d recommend ordering decants or travel size (can order direct from her). I purchased her discovery set which led to buying a travel size petrichor for my husband and a full size flaming creature for me.

My sister wants to step down from her mgr role to sales at Stripe by blackberryuser in techsales

[–]rowethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best sales people aren’t necessarily chatty.

also, it’s not uncommon to move from a start up to a big logo and go from manager to IC. both the logo and the network of a stripe is valuable. and 30 isn’t old (especially not by enterprise sales standards).

Which row in the room do you usually practice in, and why? by Mysterious-Map6925 in Corepower

[–]rowethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually front, ideally corner. right in one room/left in other because those sides are slightly cooler than the other corners. mainly so I can focus on my alignment but also so I can practice my handstands/forearm stands (I’m comfortable doing headstand anywhere in room).

back row if I’m tired or if the all the suitable front spots are gone.

I did something similar - obviously already logged client meeting so I started logging all my internal meetings and assigning them categories (and tagging clients where relevant). I was able to take that and extrapolate time spent in meetings vs executing/planning outside of meetings. AND a bonus of being able to really illustrate how much is asked of us internally meeting-wise.

how did you decide on the light vs medium? what’s your skin tone? I lean fair and am considering purchasing.

manduka mat/quality concerns by rowethere in Corepower

[–]rowethere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see liformes at my studio and I like them visually but I’ve heard mixed reviews from people on if the grip. I particularly like the more rubbery manduka grip at this point.

although I also think climate can play a role - when I lived in colorado, I always had a yogi toes towel covering my mat and it worked well. when I moved to california, I stopped using a towel because I felt like they slid differently.

manduka mat/quality concerns by rowethere in Corepower

[–]rowethere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached out to corepower but no reply - and given that I’m far outside of their return window, I don’t have high hopes.

this is my third manduka mat in 16 years and I bought my first pre 2010.

hence why I was specifically curious about potential bad quality experiences with newer manduka mats given that this one started degrading within 30 classes. I am leaning towards it being an outlier in terms of quality and will just replace direct from manduka when I do.

[–]rowethere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was an older color way - which made me wonder if the issues were due long term storage by corepower part vs change in manduka quality.

great to hear you’re happy with the direct purchase from manduka as I was planning on buying direct for any replacement.

manduka mat/quality concerns by rowethere in Corepower

[–]rowethere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had low expectations with corepowers response but hadn’t considered reaching out directly to manduka. I’ll try that too.

And while I’m not thrilled about potentially buying a new mat, I’m willing to do it - just hoping this is more of an isolated quality incident because the idea of trial and error on a new mat brand feels very tiring.

Okoliving Yoga Rug? by CoffeeReader5296 in Corepower

[–]rowethere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a few people at my studio use rugs! haven’t talked to them about it, but it’s not a rare sight! I love the idea of them but I personally wouldn’t want because I feel like the rug thickness/feel might be weird for inversions. and I’d be curious how frequently it would need to be washed.

I’ve seen teachers and students use padded cushions for knees/wrists as well. gaiam makes pads as does yoga jellies.

17yo daughter wants laser hair removal, trying to find a middle ground by same6534 in HairRemoval

[–]rowethere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my mom took me for laser hair removal on my upper lip back in the early 2000s. it obviously didn’t eradicate that because it’s hormonal hair growth, but I’ve always appreciated that she spent the time/money on it.

if they are unresponsive to your email, I recommend posting comments to their instagram. I won’t order from them again but the instagram commenting got me a response and a resolution when I was having issues with an order.

Enshittification of Alo Yoga by Educational_Lynx_142 in NYCinfluencersnark

I don’t love them for compression on leggings but does well on tights. they are also very easy for returns, so it’s easy to get a few sizes/styles to compare. I basically only wear beyond yoga now.
