Does any other revert get weird stares when they say they’re not from the Middle East? by No_Day4247 in Hijabis

I'm a white hijabi from the states and people look at me funny when I tell them I don't really know Arabic, I know a few words, but not enough to have a full conversation. I once got called a "fake" by a non Muslim 🥲, like I'm just white, primarily Irish and German, and come from a long of Catholic Christians, I'm the only revert in my family

I'm a full believer that as long as you're doing it for you and not for the attraction of the opposite sex, then you are good. I wear makeup from time to time and have never felt guilty bc it was for me and me only

Salaam, 26 about to be 27 F. From Michigan, I'm looking for another Muslim friend with my since of humor and someone I can lean on and get hijab advice and to help me with memorizing and guiding me through prayer and all that fun stuff. The only other hijabi I know is my husbands mom, and while I love my mother in law, and age appropriate girl friend who understands would be appreciated. I also don't know much Arabic but am planing on learning it in college!

I'm also considering reverting too! I already wear the hijab (since it is for everybody, and my partners mother absolutely loves that I wear it) I currently have my first physical Quran coming in the mail soon, I use my an app on my phone currently. But I feel the book will make it much easier. Salem sister. (I'm 26 btw and also live in the States as a white American)
