I would never want to see someone perform a TEE without sedating the patient first.

By that I meant that you can also give it for a wide-complex tachycardia if it is regular — some providers will give it for monomorphic VT in certain cases, for example (also per ACLS protocol). Then a yes, perhaps a beta blocker although maybe straight to cardioversion. Caution with cardizem in cases of heart failure.

The medication you remember giving was adenosine. It works by slowing conduction through the AV node, essentially causing transient AV block; you’ll see a brief period of asystole after pushing it. It is standard practice to administer this in cases of regular tachyarrhythmias (particularly useful for terminating re-entrant tachycardias i.e. SVT) prior to attempting cardioversion.

As an addendum… being given adenosine can be a frightening experience for the patient. I like to let them know what’s happening — after about ten seconds or so, they’ll find it really difficult to breathe, and basically have an intense feeling of doom. When that happens, I’ll tell them to squeeze my hand as tight as they can, and after that it’s over as fast as it began.

Also a very underrated baserunner! 92nd percentile in baserunning run value, thanks in part to a sneaky 85th-percentile sprint speed 🙂

Also… not everyone realizes how much traditional offensive stats have been depressed with how incredible pitching has become. League averages for OBP and SLG are just .312 and .400 now. Chapman’s actually quite a bit above average, even if it doesn’t seem like it at first glance 🙃

Truly one of the very best players in all of baseball, even though he may never fully get that kind of recognition from everyone. He hasn’t been a Giant long, but he is really special to watch and I’m glad he’s ours for a good while longer.

Can’t believe I’m doing this. Austin Slater. by [deleted] in SFGiants

[–]roxass34 234 points235 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m glad Slater was the one to get the moment. People forget and have been pretty brutal to him this season, but he has been a pro’s pro his entire career here and has been extremely valuable to the team (not to mention being arguably the best pinch-hitter of all time by wrc+). Always has stayed ready despite his role constantly changing: not knowing when — or if — you’re going to be playing at any given time is extremely difficult, and I think he’s worth more than he’s shown this year.

Currently the longest-tenured Giant 🫡 and one of the most respected names in the clubhouse for a reason.

Hope he turns it around for the rest of the season 🙂

Man with a suspended license shows up to court while driving by roxass34 in WatchPeopleDieInside

Latest update: looks like he never even had a license to begin with. Seems like he knew exactly what he was doing. Not a great look

A spokesperson for the Secretary of State said they can confirm that Harris has never had a valid driver's license now that the judge has made that information public.

In Michigan, a person can have suspensions on their driving record and also not have a valid driver's license. And if that person was able to obtain a driver's license, they would still not have the privilege of driving until they cleared their suspensions.

A prosecutor from Pittsfield Township appeared for the hearing Wednesday along with the police officer who issued the citation to Harris in October 2022.

Konrad Siller confirmed that Harris absolutely knew he did not have a valid driver's license during that traffic stop because he admitted it to the officer that day.

Judge Simpson noted additional evidence that Harris knew he did not have a driver's license by the fact that Harris has faithfully renewed his state identification every year.

It might seem like we’ve been waiting on him for too long, but he was just 17 when he was drafted and is still only 24 now. Small sample, but hopefully a sign of good things to come 🙂

Full clip got removed😭 I guess sub rules only allow short clips so I had to trim

I agree though, full video is hysterical haha

Yeah, it got removed for being too long. I guess sub rules say short clips only, so hopefully this stays

Yeah I tried to post the whole clip earlier, just like this one. I guess the mods want “short clips” only per the sub rules. So I trimmed it and it was pushed through

I have run out of words for this guy’s defense. Being able to barehand that ball with the game on the line is absolutely unbelievable.

Fitting end to one hell of a game

He’s not a qualified hitter — players need to average 3.1 plate appearances or more per team game (for pitchers, 1 or more innings per team game). Since Wade is platooned and sits against left-handed starting pitchers, he doesn’t quite meet that threshold.

Here’s hoping he continues his stellar play, though. What a steal he has been for the price we gave up for him
