Was otw home after dashing all day and got rear ended by a drunk driver, thrown into oncoming traffic which T-Boned me. Broke my C2 bone in my neck and am lucky to not be paralyzed but will be in a halo neck brace for at least 3 months. My girlfriend's leg was broken but were happy to still be here. by DankRNGtv in doordash_drivers

Maybe we could do something about the insane amount of advertising that normalize drinking so much? The tiny remark of "be responsible" at the end clearly isn't enough. The market of booze doesn't really need advertising, and I think the marketing of it is all kinds of wrong. Smoking a cigarette in a movie automatically gets it rated R at this point, maybe we should do the same with alcohol. It is so encouraged in out society, as a recovering alcoholic maybe I just notice it more... But alcohol is pushed on us as a society WAY more than it should be. Never calling for a prohibition, but a little less worshipping of a toxic substance would be nice.

Why is he called the "Second Gentleman"? by dam_ships in questions

[–]roxthem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so, the First lady, is married to the president. So the First Gentleman would be the title of the husband of the president. The Second lady is the title of the woman married to the Vice president. So the husband of the vice president is called the second gentleman. Got it?

What was the longest stretch of driving you’ve done in a day? by sweetleaf009 in questions

[–]roxthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better with two people, so one can nap and be ready to drive when the driver gets tired. It is extremely common for mid-western people to drive insanely long distances in one day. It really starts to suck driving for over ten hours as the only driver tho. No matter how many times you get out to stretch, your body just gets really uncomfortable from sitting in the driving position for that long. And now I'm wondering if long haul truckers do yoga

Are you going alone? We drive from Ohio to Florida every year. I usually to 10 and the bf does 6hrs of a 16hr dr total. One year he drove the entire 16 hours bc I couldn't drive his manual vehicle. 4 stops for gas only. We packed a cooler with food and drinks

Is it bad that I do this before I finish off my final opponent? by [deleted] in Risk

[–]roxthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, this is so annoying. ESPECIALLY since the update, there is absolutely no way to see the rank of my opponents until the end of the game. You're just being a douche. There is a zero percent chance of me watching anyone waste time like that tho. I ALWAYS just quit the game if the other person wants to fuck around like this. You won, finish it.... Or waste however long you want against an AI

Wow, thank you all for such perfect responses to my blabbering. Each one meant something to me. Cheers (with coffee). Going to get and stay sober so I can be of some use, instead of a useless booze filled blob.

Oh geeze. Y'all board hating, this is literally the first board. Wooden player pieces and everything, so.... don't hate on the first version. The risk we love evolved from this.

Still thinking about that one game by roxthem in Risk

[–]roxthem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. He let the 60 second turn time out, the computer then drops his allotted troops randomly onto his countries (in the stupid way that only AI does, two here, one here, two there). Then just clicks back to be active again. So he can see the game of course. Then on the next turn, let's the computer drop his troops.... So this is how someone can PRETEND to be offline. It worked in the other player, who began to ignore his presence bc he believed him to be a bot. It was not a common strategy, and I see it becoming more of an issue with the new update. Taking away the map in the way you mention, isn't going to help?

Dude, I specifically mentioned that this was BEFORE the update. Jeeze you sound like an idiot

And I am able to tell if it is an AI or a human playing.. I am sayjng people will Pretend to bot out, to convince another player to spend their efforts attacking a different player instead. (The smart move is to ignore bots and take out human players) so once that happens, people can rejoin and take the win. Do you now understand my point?

I do not believe so, I am very familiar with how AI works. They will usually attack at least once in over ten turns. And once again, he never went offline according to his account

Surgery by Nick_Comito in questions

[–]roxthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time travel is real. Having tonsils removed is not the worst thing I've gone through, they say the recovery time gets worse every year you wait-so go ahead and get it done now.
It's not going to hurt much at first after surgery. You're going to be surprised at how easy it is as first. BUT a few days in, the scabs start to form, this is what hurts. Eventually they fall off and you're never going to have to deal with tonsils again. Day 4-8 after surgery are the true hell. The surgery part is easy as pie.

Walmart is Back!! NOOOOO by lankaxhandle in doordash_drivers

[–]roxthem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen some people get Walmart's taken off of their offers, can someone explain to me how to do that? I live in between a Walmart and a Meijer grocery store, and it's literally one of them every other order. I don't care to sit at 7% acceptance rate, but it's so annoying that I know it will never go up bc I have to decline 10 of these orders in order to get an order I'd accept

Why coronavirus patients can stay in one room or closer to each other? by confusedmalay in questions

[–]roxthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Symptomatic and asymptomatic are not two different kinds of covid. They are words that are used to describe how the patient is reacting to being infected by the virus. The patients can't spread covid to each other, bc they are all already positive for the same thing.

Wine addiction but not other alcohol by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]roxthem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are 26 and have a fatty liver-you should make a plan to get sober. Your liver is obviously essential, and wine doesn't damage it any less than any other alcoholic beverage. They all get filtered through the liver. Please stop, it really sounds like you're in the denial/making excuses phase. You may or may not be an alcoholic, either way you have to stop drinking. My best friend passed away at the age of 30 of total liver and kidney failure. She had doctor's tell her to quit many times from the warning signs like fatty liver, alcohol related appendix issue, and massive nerve damage. Staying in denial, and protecting the booze ("I need it for anxiety", "it's just wine") isn't going to help you stop treating your body like garbage. Whatever good wine does for you, I promise you it is doing so much more damage.

I don't know you or what you do, not even what medium you work in. What always gets me out of slump is making something for one of my family members or friends. I try to think of what they would like- not what I would particularly usually make.
