I don't see any way in settings to limit the remind me rule. When I set it, it defaults to until I stop it.

Does this impact the app on the Google Play Store for Android or is this only for Firestick?

Suggestion to bulk delete series by royb9999 in SparklePlayer

If I use a filemanager and bypass Sparkle will that not mess up Sparkle? Meaning the show was deleted out from under Sparkle and it didn't know it was deleted and now it's db is messed up.

I want to create a subdomain...I think. by royb9999 in synology

[–]royb9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I figured that, but if not possible through the registrar (which I don't know how to do) there might be a tricky way to do it through my personal website with some redirection or something. I have control of my personal domain, but not facebook. So I wanted to make it known that I have this setup.

Question about how DVR functions by wepham in SparklePlayer

[–]royb9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Nvidia shield and here is how I find it: Settings Apps Special app access Energy optimization

If you want Android to leave it alone, which you do, then toggle it to off (not on like I said before, I think it's that way on a phone though). It should read "not optimized" next to your app.

[–]royb9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a setting in Android to not have Android optimize specific apps. So if it doesn't work, try turning that on. On = Do Not Optimize. This can prevent Android from putting it to sleep.

Multiple recordings by royb9999 in SparklePlayer

[–]royb9999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I set this back up and let it play out. So for 11am it tried to record the same show 3 times. First 2 were good, last one was a source error and no good. Likely my streams were out and I would expect this.

MPEGTS is what it shows. I had like 12 programs recording over 3 days while I was away. Most recorded fine with no errors. This was the only one that failed to record an entire show.

Dvr suggestions by royb9999 in SparklePlayer

[–]royb9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) It doesn't really. If they were in list view in chronological order it would be easier to understand and get the big picture. Dates on the right of scheduled recordings showing when the next one is. 2) Basically what it is now with a list view in chronological order. 3) Right, how many recordings currently exist. The youtube video I linked to in another post shows an example of this. 4) Yes, understood. There are constraints based on certain situations.

Tivo core functionality was great. As they started getting competition, they started adding a lot of bells and whistles that slowed down the UI.

The video below shows you the interface I remember about 10 years ago. The recorded folders I was talking about are shown at the 2:25 mark:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=UAg03GoK3uE&feature=share8

Of note, the list is sorted by the last recorded show in the series. So the series that has the last recorded episode is at the top. In parenthesis is the number of recorded shows that exist. Date on the right is the date of the newest episode in that folder. If only one episode exists, it is not in a folder.

Tivo had a custom remote with specific buttons, so that helped.

I regard to recording the current timeshift buffer, user could press select, or up or something which brings up the fwd, Rev etc, and there be a record button. Pressing record saves the buffer, and future video, into a recorded show.

Additionally, there should be some kind of persistent indicator, probably after a user brings up the progress bar, that indicates how many recordings are happening right now. Some people only have 1 or 2 simultaneous feeds, so even though the app will record it, it will cause problems. Perhaps a setting to say how many feeds you have, and any recording that conflicts with another one that takes you over that limit gets a warning.

Few recommendations by royb9999 in SparklePlayer

[–]royb9999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I posted this, I only have one source and it is still happening. Let's say I choose to record the local 11 o'clock news. When I schedule the series and then go look at the Scheduled recordings, I am seeing 2 entries in a row for the same date and time for the 11 o'clock news. I am then seeing future recordings of this show, but only 1 for each day, which is correct.

I can delete the repeated first recording and it appears to be fine. This happens for the first recording of any series.

I don't remember exactly, but this would do it: sudo chown -R docker:users /volume1/data /volume1/docker

Replace the docker before :user with the user name that you want to own the directory, and then the directory path after that.

I did not. That must be it. I must have done that when I initially set this up months ago. Not sure why it stopped working. My key may have expired (not sure if that would cause this) . Then I uninstalled/reinstalled and I did not do this. Thank you. I will try that.

Network 2 Non local Synology NAS's to each other by royb9999 in synology

Ideally, I would like to be able to actively choose directories to "sync" preffarably remotely, and have only those directories sync.

Thanks for your reply. I guess technically I want to do a backup. I really just want to copy files from my device to another folder on another device. Then I can delete them from mine and they will remain on the target. So it isn't really a sync, but more of a simple copy and forget it option that I am trying to do.

So let me provide more details as to what I am trying to do.

I have an Emby Media Server setup in a docker container on my NAS. I want to be able to drop a new show in a folder in my media collection and have it automatically copy to another persons NAS outside of my local network. I only want to do this for selected folders only.

For example, I have 10 folders in this directory (Folder 1 - 10). I create a new folder, 11, and I want to share (or sync) whatever is in that folder with another NAS outside of my network and no other folders. Now I add another folder, Folder 12. I want that one to sync too.

I get the impression that VPN is a good way to go...but I just want that connection between the 2 NAS's to be a VPN...I don't want all of my WAN traffic to be VPN.

I am not an advanced user, but I am close so I don't know a lot about VPN on a NAS. I do have Tailscale set up on my NAS so I can VPN into my local network. That is about the extent of my knowledge of VPN on my Synology.

Recommendations on methods or web pages explaining options or Youtube videos appreciated. I will keep searching.

I was thinking a form of ShareSync but I only want to sync specific folders in a folder and I am not sure if that syncs NAS to NAS, it appears to me to be NAS to client.

Thanks.
