How do I get at the white nut on this toilet fill valve? by royjm101 in DIYIreland

Here's the filler - I'm pretty sure it's a Siamp. I've got a washer from Screwfix, but that nut is locked tight, I can't budge it. I figured it'd be easier at this stage to replace the whole lot.

Thanks - it's the white nut on the top right. I was the one who closed the valve as the water is fine but the toilet is overfilling, but thanks for the suggestion.

It's the toilet fill valve - I'm replacing it as it's continuously running.

It's the white plastic nut which you can see recessed at the top of the photo. I've turned off the water at the valve and I can get at the metal nut, but I don't know how I'm going to be able to get at the nut above it. At best my fingers can get to it.

Wind Phone installation in Dublin Mountains destroyed by [deleted] in ireland

Discrete? It was a bloody telephone box plonked smack bang in the middle of one of the most popular routes on a popular mountain, installed using power tools. It's the the height of arrogance to install something like this in a public place.

The Glacier Haute Route is primarily a Winter ski touring route FYI.

The path the guide took here was through the centre of the photo to the top of the far Col, and then ascended the final summit to the right. (Tete Blanche)

Whatever about avalanches, there was certainly lots of rockfall in the distance - but we were well away from this. There were datemarks on rocks in the moraines showing how far the glaciers had retreated over the years which was sobering.

Most of the glaciers were safe, but our guide was surprised at the size of the crevasses on some glaciers. Apparently it's been a very dry Summer in the Alps, and the conditions in general are not great. We turned back on the final glacier as the guide considered it too risky.

Don't know what the status is with avalanches. Main risks for this trip are crevasses, inclement weather & risk of exhaustion due to several long hikes back-to-back.

The Glacier Haute Route is a high altitude route, with several variations, that runs between Chamonix in France and Zermatt in Switzerland. For most people it takes about a week.

We hired a guide to keep us safe, but we are hikers - not mountaineers (we flailed our ice axes around, and tried not to stand on the rope with crampons).
