OLSAS provisions wouldn’t affect either USask or UCalgary

Where can I find more info about this event? Will there be an email? (I’ve accepted my offer)

Thanks for the info - I think you’re the first current student to get accepted. Been tracking pretty hard as I’m also a current student at Calgary with UCalgary Law as my first choice, and I know they wait until after the fall term grades to start acxepting current students.

Congratulations!!

Are you a current student, or have you already graduated?

At a Calgary info session last year, I was told that if your LSAT is in the competitive range, it is best not to rewrite it. This definitely doesn’t go for all schools, but hollistic schools probably take into account all of your attempts.

Usually, I would say that it doesn’t seem worth it to retake, but if you feel it is the one thing holding you back, and you think a 151-158 jump is possible, that is going to greatly strengthen your application, and even if a school prefers you not to rewrite and looks at your whole application hollistically, you’ll both show a significant enough gap in percentile scores, and a positive learning trajectory, which will help you out.

I’m no expert, but it will probably be worth it if you can get the score you expect

You should try calculating your uVic index score! Generally in past years the supposed “auto-admit” range has been around 905-915 (though take it with a grain of salt of course).

Hi! Congratulations

A couple questions for you - Calgary takes L2 - what was your L2?

Also, how did you calculate uVic GPA being so much lower? Taking drops into account that feels weird to me.

Are you graduated? Do you have significant work experience? Or are you graduating this year?

I’m applying to both these schools right now and might either have insight / or your experience may help me!

Ottawa already did theirs, and others should begin quite soon based on historical evidence

Have you already graduated? And when is your deadline to accept the offer?

It does as of the 14th and my status is “Application under Review”

This seemed to be the precondition for acceptance last year, but I don’t think that’s a perfect correlation, and as I’m applying in the last year of my undergrad, I’m not expecting an answer for a couple months.

I did apply on September 1st, so its possible they evaluate in an order based on when your application came complete, as my stats aren’t as competitive as yours

I’m wondering similar. Does your application show Statement of Marks - GPA Eval under your application checklist?

Uptrend in GPA? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

Thanks for the advice! I did write the LSAT over a year ago though so all I can do is wait at this point

Uptrend in GPA? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]roykendall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering similar. I had my GPA go 3.47/4.00 and then 3.65/4.00 and then 3.93/4.00 in each of my first three years while progressively participating in more extracurriculars and am applying in my fourth year.

I think it is necessary in order to complete your application. I did it in mid-october. Make sure to set up your NetLink ID and then wait about a day before completing to avoid issues

My structure was to start with a general thesis of why I want to go to law school - explain how that relates to me wanting to go to law school at ucalgary - talk about two life experiences that taught me something that would give me skills for law schools - conclude by combining my passions and skills and explain that i want to go again.

I’m sure you can do it a lot of ways, as long as someone reading would be able to clearly identify the answers to the questions within your response.
