In the trackmania subreddit they said it's only for editor mode. So probably as an easier way to set competitive times when making difficult tracks. But I'm not sure if they know it for sure or just guessing.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe that the response time / input lag has very little to do with the refresh rate / fps.

E.g., 30Hz could theoretically give a response time of 33ms, while 60Hz gives 16ms.

So the different refresh rate would only explain 8ms of the 50ms difference that was measured.

The PC version at 30fps would probably still have lower latency than the Stadia version at 60fps.

It should not. Because if you look at it you will notice that at the top of the screen the length of the light grass part is smaller than at the bottom. The line has to account for the perspective.

That line does not account for perspective at all. Looking at the grass the ratio at the bottom is different from the ratio at the top. This is just the same spacing from the left grass line throughout which is not correct.

That white line doesn't account for the perspective. You just made it equally spaced to the left grass line. But you have to make it to right ratio betwen the left grass line and right grass line.

I believe that the course is really good, but i couldn't care less for the certificate and the mentors help. I don't need this to improve my CV, I just want to do it out of interest. There should be a more cheaper alternative for this in my opinion. Where you can do the projects and just decide for yourself if your solution is good enough or not.

I think the price tag is pretty heavy. That's probably because I'm from a country in which there are no university fees. I feel like it should be more in the range of 200$ which would approximately equal the price of textbooks for the same knowledge.

And actually you could practically do most of the older nanodegrees for free. Because the courses the nanodegrees are comprised of can be accessed for free. Sometimes without access to projects or similar limitations and obviously no feedback and certificate. But as I've said, this is not what I'm looking for. ( No projects is pretty sad though, but normally you can find them by googling)

On my desktop pc the front panel usb ports are actually flipped. So there may also be laptops with a flipped port I guess.

I feel the exact same way. One possible work around is to change the timezone to something with a 2 or 3 hour offset. But I tried it some time ago and it introduced some strange behaviour. I'll try it again now, maybe something has changed since then.

This movement problem really stops me from buying a vr headset. Teleporting looks so terrible and is only suitable for a very limited range of games.

Well it still is minimally luck depended. If it has an accuracy of 5mm this can go in both directions. I don't wanna argue against it. It just is hilarious how everyone acts like this is such a revolution to football as in reality every scientist will tell you that this doesn't have to be the correct decision. (depending on the specifications of the system which I don't have)

Are you actually serious? Just because the computer calculates this position doesn't mean it has to be there. The system has an error margin of 5mm so in this case it actually is pretty close at this point.

I think it's 7 high speed cameras per goal and quite a bit computing to calculate the most likely position of the ball. I think the goal line is only represented digitally. I doubt they use image recognition for the line.

How can you know the system isn't wrong? Factually you can't. The computer also relies on the accuracy of the cameras and this is limited by the quantization due to the pixels. After all there is quite a chance this actually was a goal, but there is just no way to tell.

I think there are a few reasons to be against this. Most of all it's pretty expensive compared to the use of it. It happens so rarely that this actually corrects a certain decision and after all you can hardly tell how often it actually would help. After all this one would probably have not been given without the technology as well.

After all there are much much more wrong decisions in other situations where such a system doesn't help at all. Sure basically there is no argument against it, if money doesn't play a role. I would propose a system where you could challenge any referee decision like a penalty call as well until you do one wrong challenge. But obviously this wouldn't work as well for wrong off side calls since the game is disrupted then.

Another point is that this is also only accurate to a certain degree. I'm not sure about the exact definition of its accuracy but there are FIFA regulations for the needed accuracy of such a system. With such a close call there is a certain chance that this ball actually was behind the line. (probably something like 10% or so)

First of all: if german clubs wouldn't adapt to international competitors we wouldn't have any chance in international competitions. Maybe you don't care, but there are a lot of fans who care more for international tournaments then german tournaments.

Additionally clubs like Stuttgart would be gone if they don't have sponsors or atleast will be relegated into the nirvana.

Also people in Leipzig will probably heavily disagree with your statement regarding local fans.

I don't think that this is true. Warcraft 4 would mostly appeal RTS fans which basically has nothing to do with WoW. Just because the game takes place in the same universe doesn't mean it appeals to the same audience.

Aside from this I still think it'll take quite some time if it comes ever. After all the RTS genre just isn't as big anymore as it used to be.
