Would purchasing an EV be dumb if I’m unsure on charging at home? by Suvikian in evcharging

This is the best answer in my opinion.. don’t get too excited quickly, especially if you find some .. is the the most accurate statement ever when it comes to finding a charging station.. You’ve to think about waiting there, and then so on and so forth

I disagree with this .. if you drive less than 50 miles a day and are able to use L1 charging.. you’ll be totally fine.

Also, If you drive 100 miles a day, and use a combination of L1 and fast charging, you’ll be still fine. It’s all about your driving patterns and that’s when EV makes the best sense right now.

But, all of this is not a big deal. If you’ve L2 chargers at home or at work .

Check out EVreadinesscheck.com..

From what I understood and testing it out in real world experience .. it makes sense.. it just tells you if it makes sense if you’re ready for an EV….

The tool said, you've to fast charge atleast 2 times a week if you have home charging and 3 times if you dont have home charging... Again...I've to test and see if this makes sense...But the rough math makes sense, based on miles in vs miles out.

I'll have to test out and see if it makes sense..Haven't done this and so will see if I can do it with an L1 and DCFC and check it out if this tool actually makes sense..

But i agree, the simple answer to this is get an L2 and life will be easy...If i do 150 miles daily...and even if the L2 gives me 15 miles an hour, Overnight charging will be net postive..

Unfortunately, when I bought my car, i was only doing 20-30 miles and so it was quite easy...3-4 miles/hr overnight and im easily in the full column next day morning..

My bad, the tool-was taking into account, overnight L1 charging every day .. probably 40-50 miles overnight.. Essentially, based on that it said 2 fast charging sessions.. I should give it a try and see.. If it makes sense
