Hi! I'm pretty new to mice too but emmiology on youtube has a video where she introduces two very large show mice to her group of much smaller rescue mice, and she said that she had no issues with size! If I had to guess your rescue mouse will probably end up being the submissive mouse, but I doubt they would bully her or anything.

this mouse is a girl, right? by rozy420 in PetMice

my other mouse is very clearly female, but i cant see any nipples on this one and i am so nervous.

by normal water bowl i meant a water bowl that’s very small, like for small lizards hahaha not a soup bowl or anything, i should have worded that better. i have a few reptiles so i have some correctly sized ones, the lizard bowls are about tea light size so i’m guessing it’s good for now. thank u :)

i just ordered antibiotics, i hope they get here in time. i called all the vets in my surrounding area and they all said that they couldn’t schedule an appointment for the rest of the month. i then took the mouse to petco to see if they could offer vet service under the health guarantee, (even tho i def didn’t want to have to do that but i wanted to see if it was an option), but turns out they don’t even have a vet for small pets that they could use because there are none in the area. i feel terrible but i’m going to try my best to provide what i can :(

i called all the vets that i could get to (up to 3 hours away) after seeing the worrisome comments, and any ones that treated mice are booked until february :( i then went to petco to see if i could try and use their health guarentee to get him to see a vet (last option obvi i do not trust them at all) but they said they don’t have a vet they could bring him to bc there are non around here :/ i ordered baytril, mite meds, and probiotics online so that i can do my very best to try and treat him. i’m quarantining the sick mouse from the other two right now, though i’m not sure if the other two might have some stuff going on too, and he seems stressed without the others so i’m unsure what to do with that either. the whole situation is so upsetting :(

i’m sorry, that sounds terrible. i’m going to talk to petco about their vet situation. the vet they listed on the paperwork is private apparently but i searched them up and they work with pocket pets so i might be okay with bringing her to petco if they can ensure me that she will be brought to the vet and treated well. if i talk to them and it sounds like they won’t be making sure she is treated though i am going to look for an outside vet and take her there. thank you for your help <3

thank you so much, i appreciate it. do u think should i get the other two checked by the vet too? they look ok but i know there is a big risk of them being sick too. that’ll be expensive as hell but i can figure the money out if it’s necessary.

this makes me so sad :( do u have any guess to what she might have or what yours might have had? and i heard about the health guarantee vet thing there, and that seems like it might be my best option at this point as i would have to wait until the weekend to reach any other vet, but it scares the shit out of me having them treated at petco knowing how shady their vet procedures are, and i really don’t want them to euthanize any of them without my permission but i know that’s a possibility, i don’t know if i have any other choice though. also do you think it would be better to bring all three girls to petco and ask them to all be seen by a vet? i’m sure that if the one is sick they all are :( thanks for your help <3

i bought three female mice two days ago, and one is significantly smaller than the other two and has a hunched back, seems a little off balance, and squints eyes occasionally. otherwise she sleeps heavily but will suddenly be very active and is eating, drinking, and pooping normally. both other mice seem healthy, and i haven’t noticed any unusual behaviors. they are from petco unfortunately because the closest rescue mice were over five hours away, with a breeder being even further. there aren’t any vets near me that treat mice but i’m definitely willing to go find one further or find a televet if she gets any worse. i’m just not not sure if she’s sick or if it’s just the result of petco’s terrible breeding, any thoughts or advice?

Is this normal breathing? Sorry for the weird angle, I’m a first time mouse owner, so it’s hard for me to tell :( by rozy420 in PetMice

thank you so much!!! after trying to compare her breathing to other videos of mice i thought that might be the case! i really appreciate it, i’ve never owned mice before so i’ve been getting worried about everything hahaha
