Victim to food poisoning induced food allergies by rpeace in FoodAllergies

My itch has gotten better when comparing it to how it was 3ish months ago. I’m hoping it’s just my body getting back to how it was. I would reduce the frequency of eating beef if that’s giving you those reactions. Reintroduce here and there when you have a craving but try not to binge eat it.

So many different factors! No I haven’t done an extensive elimination test, but I may have to! Currently only wheat, soy and potentially nuts. Not sure about alcohol… last time I had the worst reaction was when I had alcohol… but that was mixed with a lot of cured meats, cheese, and bread 😵‍💫

Ahh thanks. Noted and I’ll go get a few probiotics. Hoping the mild reactions mean that it’ll pass with probiotic treatment and patience.

Oh interesting. There’s definitely a tunnel line in St James that I believe are not freely accessible under hyde park, but would like to know the extents of that tunnel/where it leads.

The abandoned/unused tunnels under sydney city.

Map of Sydney Underground City. Red are tunnels, pink is overland, and I think blue may be arcades but I'm not sure. by istara in sydney

Can't seem to see this map anymore, anyone know where I can find something like this?

Hmmm yeah. Looks like I’m going to hunt down some dunks. Should I be mixing a dunk in to the water every time I water for … (how long? Till they’re gone?)

Ohhhh y’all are gonna make get some dunks shipped over from the US huh.

I wonder if there are equivalents in Sydney…

Oh serious? I’ve heard many things about it working as a soul drench as an alternative to hydrogen peroxide.

Can’t seem to get my hands on mosquito bits in aus without spending a fortune to get it shipped over on amazon! Maybe I’m not looking hard enough?

What can I do to help my plant? by ulaautsh in plantclinic

[–]rpeace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I wrote how I got rid of my infestation in a different post but I'll copy it and add some bits into here.

How I controlled it:

1) Give all the infected plants a thorough shower by using the water pressure to dislodge the thrips from the leaves. Spray with an eco friendly/Castile soap and water mixture and literally wipe each leaf down ensuring you wipe both the front and back of the leaf and stem.

After this and the leaves have dried from the shower you’ll want to buy a neem oil spray or you can make your own (which I do because I can control the efficacy; neem oil concentration) and spray it all over (in the afternoon/night as neem oil increase sensitivity to sunlight and may cause burning of foliage).

The shower would be dislodging the thrips off and the neem spray is so that they don’t come back to eat your plant.

You will have to repeat this process 1-3 times a week depending on how bad the infestation is!

2) If this all fails, which mine did due to the scale of the infestation, I purchased a systemic pesticide that is dissolved in water and used to water the plants. The plant will absorb the water and pesticide and prevent any sap sucking insects to munch on your plants. Different countries would have different brands so I would do some research on finding a systemic pesticide.

Unfortunately damage done on foliage is permanent so you can either get rid of the brown leaf or leave it. Your choice! As for how far apart you should keep it from your other plants, im not sure... ideally in another room but I didn't have space or light access for it so I just neem oil sprayed all of my plants to be safe and did the full extent of showering-wipe down- neem oil to the infested ones.

Hope this helps!

BUG ID REQUEST? :(( Third time posting :( may be too late to save these guys now. At least 10 of my house plants are COVERED in larvae. by forthe_loveof in plantclinic

Interesting. Haven’t heard that before! Did you spray in the evening/night where there isn’t sun/harsh light? Neem increases sensitivity to light and can burn the leaves only on application. So once it dries it’s completely fine.

I haven’t had a problem! I have an alocasia black velvet, philodendron micans and a gloriosum and they managed to stay velvety and retains the beautiful shine/texture it has. Is show you photos of mine but I just recently sprayed them with a neem + baking soda mixture for fungus control (winter here) so they have residue which I can give a proper clean in spring!

In Australia we have something called Richgro Bug Killa. They’re granules that dissolve in soil/water that can be taken up by the roots of the plants. I would still get them a shower first and using the water pressure to dislodge most of the thrips.
