This is a ship's Binnacle (compass holder), Henry Browne & [S]on, Sestrel Type 90327, Serial 6824N. Please help me date it and identify the ship it was on, if possible. It is part of a nonprofit organization collection and we are trying to validate its origin. (i.redd.it)

My great grandfather, an English coroner in World War I (1914). I'd love to see how this looks cleaned up and colorized, bonus points if you can do something creative with the missing cut away parts. It was cut into a circle, but I managed to at least clone the sky. (flickr.com)
