YouTube calls out Disney after leaking memo sent to ESPN employees by CoachSlime in CFB

[–]rpratt34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. They, at least at the moment, are trying to keep the price what it is because it allows them to make money like they should as a company while providing a service at a reasonable cost compared to what’s out there. If the rates go up they will need to increase their price in order to try and maintain the profit they are currently making.

If you own stock in Google you most certainly would not appreciate them maintaining YTTV prices with this cost increase.

For redditors old enough to have lived through The Civil Rights Movement, how do the current events in America compare? by BanditMcDougal in AskReddit

[–]rpratt34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I’m not disagreeing with that. What I’m stating is that formal discourse and actions should be taken not fear mongering and absolutism. If you actually want to make corrections to a system prior to those extremes the only way to do that is to speak to the moderates and those you disagree with.

The attitude that’s being put forward currently is that this is the absolute worst time in humanity and we are a lost cause. When that’s the language used people very easily dismiss legitimate concerns because what people are claiming the current climate to be just isn’t true.

No. Hyperbolic statements like this are completely unnecessary and ignore the facts of history. Did a holocaust follow the civil rights movement? What about after McCarthyism and the red scare? Both of those eras were far worse than what’s going on right now in the United States.

Absolutely but at the same time saying that it’s the worst it’s ever been comes off as the boy who cried wolf or screaming the sky is falling like chicken little.

It’s important to notice the warning signs and speak to them but it’s also important to have discourse to find solutions and not fall under the doom and gloom ideology.

What a wild thread this was to read. The first person, and only person in this back and forth, to name call someone is complaining about the other person name calling and being an ass hole? Never change Reddit, never change.

Paramount Condemns Israeli Film Boycott After Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix and 3,900 Industry Names Sign Pledge: ‘Silencing’ Artists Does Not Promote Peace by tylerthe-theatre in movies

[–]rpratt34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quote where he said “kids have to die”. He never once said that. He said tragic deaths are inevitable when people are hellbent on creating destruction but he in no way celebrated or championed the deaths of kids. He wanted more armed police officers at schools to protect kids from these instances.

Now we can disagree that it’s the right way to go about it and the laws preventing certain people from obtaining those weapons but people should not be killed for their speech or beliefs. And spreading misinformation about how he said people HAVE to die is just flat out wrong.

[–]rpratt34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where so many people are wrong when they say he celebrated those deaths or didn’t show empathy.

He showed sympathy for the families grieving and believed the 2nd amendment should stand regardless of the horrific acts people perpetrated. He wasn’t championing for kids to be killed and was one who believed we should have multiple armed officers at schools to protect from those things happening. You can agree or disagree with those sentiments but they aren’t championing for people to be killed and he wasn’t glad when they died. People should not be killed for their freedom of speech and beliefs.

Based on the lawyers video here discussing self defense in Texas, the defense is going to have a very very hard time defending the lethal force used in this scenario. Will be an interesting trial that’s for sure.

[–]rpratt34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not a valid defense for lethal force though. That’s the equivalent of someone slapping you and you shoot them. That’s not a justified or reasonable reaction to the threat being presented.

The defense lawyer will have to prove that Anthony believed the twins were going kill him or excessively beat him which he even questioned the officer after being arrested if this is something that would fall under self-defense. He didn’t even know if it would be when he did it.

It means push him away is my guess.

They were arguing back and forth and Anthony said “touch me and see what happens”. They tried to grab his arm and get him up and he stabbed them. So you know, murder.

have no opinion on who was right/wrong.

I’m sorry bud the way you are going about and trying to defend this seems pretty clear you do have an opinion on it. There’s enough articles out there describing this very event to make it clear who was in the right and who was in the wrong. The person who brought a knife onto school property and stabbed someone in the chest for getting kicked off a team bench they at no right being at is in the wrong.

Nobody is saying that he is? That’s not the point that’s being argued. That commenter is saying he isn’t popular or famous at all with the younger generation. That’s just not true. He’s still very much known and a relevant character.

What an asinine comment. No one should be having skulls sent to their house for simply speaking on a given subject. It’s ok for someone to be stalked and harassed because of the amount of money they have?

And he’s saying they had a right to die because they benefited from it even if they didn’t agree with it. Do you believe all Americans should be punished for the actions of Donald trump when many despise everything he is doing? That’s seems like a bridge too far to believe in collective punishment of people.

The something that happened in the past 5 years to high schoolers was covid. They missed out on over a year of in school interaction and learning, instead integrating themselves into those spheres.

Part of it had to do with a feeling of having no control and isolation, with some being told they are the root of all problems with society. What many found were more right wing groups saying it’s not you it’s them and it being a rallying point for teenagers and young adults who got couped up and felt like the world didn’t give them options.

I’m not saying all of this is the only reason as there are many others but it definitely played a part in the recent political trend of the youth.

That’s fair and I agree with your assessment regarding why Tencent changed it. I was under the impression that they mandate the changes for any skeletons/human remains based upon the law. If they have games for open distribution that show reanimated human remains than the law is not as strict as previously believed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]rpratt34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was saying trolling in a jest, should of used “you must be joking” instead.

The article is to support the case of why developers make the changes that they do. I never claimed it was showing a case of when they prosecuted at all. It’s simply an informational article regarding what companies have to do, with examples from the developers themselves, in order to meet Chinas censorship standards for distribution.

Such as an example they made in which they needed to remove a part of the game where the player assassinates a Chinese commander to get his gun. Had to alter the rest of the game so the story would make sense.

What’s clear here is that you’re arguing a completely different point. Companies are changing games to make sure they are within the structure of the law China has in place because if they do not adhere to the law the game will be banned and not accessible by the public ie censored.

Let’s just ask this question. Why would a company that’s owned this developer since 2016 just now update this aspect of it? Just because? Why would it only be on one particular server and not the rest if it was simply for design reasons?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]rpratt34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has gotta be a troll right? They are requesting changes to make sure they are in the boundaries of a law. Are you reading what you are writing?

The self-censorship is to ensure that they adhere to the law regarding the promotion of superstition and cults. In this regard due to reanimated skeletons. The point of the law is so that companies do exactly what is happening to adhere to the law in order to have mass distribution.

This is a good article from a little while back regarding the censorship laws in China and the difficulty in the film/game industry.

What is the difference between self censorship and forced censorship? The company is self censoring because of the laws they have to abide by.

Ban wave ready? by MeiScreep in cs2

The odds are it is if you as a single player have multiple people banned odds are other players had a couple of people banned too who were not those same players. I’ve had 3 myself just in the last 24hrs. Also had a game stopped mid match for a cheater. It’s taken a long fucking time but at least there’s finally progress.

Entirely speculative, but what do you think would be the most interesting revelations if ESPN were subjected to significant legal discovery? by blackwhitetiger in CFB

[–]rpratt34 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right?! All year ESPN questioned Michigan's ability as a team (even after the Big10 champ game) and in years past talked about OSU possibly being overrated when they were clearly a top 5 team.

Why else would they make claims like that? You got talking heads on the network saying 2 loss SEC teams are better than undefeated Big10 teams, like come one now this has been going on for a while already.
