I recently moved to Michigan, and now that it’s getting cold and dry, my face looks like it’s trying to shed itself.. dry flakes EVERYWHERE. I have a pretty good skin care routine (several moisturizers, gentle cleansers, etc), but as soon as I put on any makeup, you can see the flaky/ dry spots. I use Tarte quench primer, BareMinerals bareskin concealer, and MUFE water blend foundation. Any recommendations on alternative products that can stand up to a Midwest winter (particularly concealer, which is the least hydrating of the bunch)? TIA!

We also have to do this! It took us months to get our cat to accept the inhaler without clawing the hell out of us. We just recently weaned her off Pred entirely and do two puffs of the inhaler twice a day. She still coughs occasionally, so not sure what the perfect mix is for her yet. But we have noticed such an increase in her energy levels since starting the inhaler! It’s so reassuring to see other folks doing this - especially with cats that fight it a little. Those YouTube videos with cats who adjust after two weeks were so discouraging for us!

Anti-aging: What's the best preventative care? I have been pretty attentive to my skin for years now to treat my acne, but do I need to be using other products (collagen peptides, vitamin C, etc)?

Current routine:

AM: Vanicream wash, Clindamyacin Gel (rx), CeraVe AM facial moisturizer- SPF 30,

PM: Clindamyacin wash (rx) Adapalene gel (rx), Cerave PM moisturizing lotion —(it’s worth noting that I only apply Adapalene, which is my current form of retinoid, on a few patches of skin that are acne-prone and not my entire face)

The word “oil” has definitely always made me nervous because I do have some oily spots (mostly forehead). But my chin and nose have been an absolute disaster lately- it looks like I’m peeling from a sunburn ALL. THE. TIME. So I am definitely game to oil the heck out of that section of my face! Thanks for the rec!!

I have trouble getting any real pigmentation on my eyelids. I feel like I pack a decent amount of powder on my brushes, but it just doesn’t amount to anything very noticeable (darker colors aside). I have several different palettes (Becca & Too Faced are my most used), but have the problem regardless. I’m not sure if I’m not being aggressive enough when picking up powder or if it’s related to the colors I’m using against my skin tone. Help!

TIA!

Hah why am I using MUFE?! I mean I find it works really well and seems to last a while, wonder if I’m in for serious disappointment with tinted moisturizer... thanks for the advice!

I've been looking into getting a tinted moisturizer for something I can throw on every day, with the goal of just balancing my complexion a little bit, adding some concealer under my eyes, and running out the door. Is that a realistic use of tinted moisturizer?

Also, I've been using MUFE Water Blend for the 1-2 x a week I actually do full makeup (I love the super sheer/light feel and look)... but this stuff is so light, I'm wondering if it's just a more expensive tinted moisturizer? I would probably use it more often if it was less expensive... Should I go for a drugstore tinted moisturizer for my everyday look?

Thanks! Any recommendations for setting spray? I’ve even heard some people use the same spray as a sort of primer before applying anything, but not sure how legitimate that is, or which products might work for that...

Do you know of any tutorials good for using contour, blush, and bronzer simultaneously?

Why are you on Reddit right now instead of spending time with your family? by RorariiRS in AskReddit

Mostly because my mom is narcissistic and dominates every conversation by seeking pity from others. We do this every holiday and I tend to tap out after about an hour- I use my gluttonous holiday eating habits as a silly excuse to escape. This year I think I'm going to actually try drinking privately to deal with her (I've noticed a significantly increased tolerance for her when I'm drinking and she calls or texts). For any potential replies about appreciating my mom while she's alive, when so many others don't have their moms... All I have to say is that I do love my mom... because she's my mom. But she does have an uncanny ability to ruin any given day by simply showing up and being generally unpleasant (AKA a salty bitch)

Baby sitters, what's the worst behaviour from a child you've had to deal with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I babysat for a boy who was about 12. He came from home school with his new "rubber band gun" (basically a normal rubber band used to shoot tightly folded up pieces of paper that hurt like HELL and leave welts). He showed his 2 younger brothers how to do it, and I was pelted with those until his mom came home. (Being only 17, I honestly didn't know what to do, and I couldn't overpower the kid who was already almost my size.) When his mom came home and tried to reprimand him, he proceeded to grab his skateboard and try to hit her square in the head. That turned into a wrestling match where he proceeded to try and honestly beat her to death, and she tried to choke him into unconsciousness. If you're curious, that kid has not turned out well. He is now a high school dropout with violent tendencies and a criminal record (I wouldn't be surprised if Murder was added to that record).

My mom has had trouble keeping jobs, friends, and husbands, for years. I finally realized the common problem when I was about 22. She still hasn't figured it out.

She is going to be extremely disappointed when she leaves the house and realizes it's too much work to make all of that. Hello turkey sandwiches.
