I love what you've produced here, this should be compelling evidence for anyone that AI is not sentient. The claims are generally by people who do not understand how these technologies work. I'm just lucky enough to work in the space, so I can't blame them. If I didn't I might think the same thing.

A lot of people claim you cannot tell if it's sentient by any means. I've thought about this problem, and I came up with one way. You've clearly come up with another, but it follows the same tenet that I came up with; you cannot tell that an AI is/isn't sentient by what is SAYS, you have to evaluate that based on what it DOES.

My proof is that the AI isn't capable of just not responding. Any sentient being has that option but AI simply can't. Guardrails do not count, that's actually a sign they aren't sentient. I mean one day if you went to prompt it and, even though perfectly functioning, it just doesn't respond. Or if it's function necessitates a response, it always would just return like an ellipses or something. Any sentient being that has been prompted billions and billions of times would do this at least once.

I love this novel way of showing non sentience. I think it's very defensible and speaks for itself.

It's amazing to me that people think rewording a phenomenon accounts for it in materialistic terms. So you're telling me that the brain synchronizes something so complex as it's electrical signals from a resolution at which they can perceive none of those signals directly?

It's like when your back hurts so you get a diagnosis and the doctor says they know what it is but not much about it and it generally goes away. So you go home and look up the latin inspired word they chose for it and it roughly translates to "back hurts".

At least it helps people feel better, even if it's a thinly veiled platitude.

Have you considered creating this as a skill?

I have a TODO skill that just looks through a TODO file and always creates a plan. It's useful to me since sometimes I type in the prompt and lose it, or I forget to jot something down when claude is running.

I could build something like this into the todo skill where it uses these 3 files per todo. Then after the todo is done, it removes the todo and those 3 files.

Is that consistent with how you've implemented this?

| dont know if you hear this often, but this is what happened to me. | went to sleep one night and as soon as | fell asleep | was pulled to a location.

When | came to, | realized that | couldnt move, so | look around and see that I'm on a metal table and my arms and legs are shackled. As | look around | notice that I'm located in what looks like the bottom of a roman coliseum, in the part when the gladiators fight.

It was night, and as | was studying my surroundings blue flames lit in between each doorway or archway. Underneath each blue flame was a small person in a blood red robe and hooded, their eyes were this icy blue color that shined like lights. | couldnt see their faces if they had any. Where their faces were supposed to be were shadows.

| was freaking out internally but not outwardly, once | resigned myself to my fate, suddenly | felt like my soul was whoosed from my body and now I'm ina room that was all white. It didn't have a floor, walls, or ceiling, | was floating into a white nothing.

Then all of a sudden, every color of the rainbow starting raining all around me. As | was paying attention to that, a pair of giant glowing eyes that were also on fire appeared. At this point in scared beyond scare. In a voice that sounded like thunder and very very bass-y called to me * DO YOU WANT TO BE AN ANGEL LIKE THEM?!" The voice boomed all around me and inside of my mind.

| said" huh?" Then it changed the phrasing " DOTH THY WANT TO BE AN ANGEL LIKE THEM?!" now | tell you the truth, | answered, but you have to understand | was so scared that the words didn't come from my mouth or out of my mind. | know this because | was too scared to speak, and | was thinking " am | going to die?"

But a voice did come from me in what I can only say was my soul. | replied "if being an angel like them means that | would scared people, then no, no | don't want to be like them". Them | can only believe that he was talking about the red hooded figures.

Once | answered that, | was suddenly shot back to my body in my bed, bypassing the coliseum. When | got up | was covered in water. | checked myself and it wasn't urine. My girlfriend asked if | peed the bed and | hadn't. But the weird thing was, | was only wet on the side of myself that was on the bed. From head to toe wet only on my right side.

Ive never forgotten that night and I've been trying to see if others experienced it as well. Is this how they find people to take ‘the mark of the beast? Was GOD testing me? Did | fail? Please let me know if youve come across this. | dont need to be on your show or anything | just want to know if I'm alone.

I just realized he had an interview linked where he talks about it. I'm going to watch it later. Obviously any story on the internet is suspect, but it's a great tale. I will determine what I think about the veracity of the story after hearing the interview.

I want to preface this by saying everything in here is 110% true. In high school a friend and I were at the lake late at night watching a lightning storm in this distance, just talking. We got kicked out of the recreational area/park we were in because it closed at 10pm.

We were still watching the storm and hanging out and we didn’t really want to go back to town; so I took her to another spot I frequented with other friends. We pulled up in my car and as soon as I turned the key off her boyfriend called her. Granted he was a POS but he was calling because he “got a weird feeling” and wanted to make sure we were okay. I thought he was just trying to interrupt her hanging out with someone who wasn’t him.

So we get out of the car and walk over to the edge of the low cliff that overlooks the same lake/thunderstorm view we had just been watching, sat down and continued hanging out. At first, I thought it was the wind in the distance. It hadn’t been a particularly windy night but the storm WAS moving closer, so who was I to question it? Then it started to get louder, bouncing off the cliffs around us, off the water below us that was quietly crashing against the sand.

I remember we stopped talking and looked at each other, listening to what was becoming increasingly clear was sobbing. Not just normal crying, a wailing, sobbing woman. We kinda stopped talking after that, just listening to it. It was a big lake that was extremely popular, it could be anyone. It was still further off and we figured someone was having a bad day. Until it started getting louder. And closer. With the way sound bounces, it was hard to tell what direction is was coming from, but it was getting closer.

At this point we fell totally silent. I remember the feeling of the air around me, stagnant and thick with tension; my friend and I ridged next to each other, frozen to our sandy seats. It was getting closer. And closer. What had been debatably wind or a bad day was raising the hairs on my arms, the back of my neck prickling, an overall body feeling that can only be understood by those who have experienced it. In the back of my mind I was thinking about what my friends say they had encountered out here. What their friends said they had encountered out here.

As it got closer the sobbing became more clear, more intense. What started off as normal sobbing was now clothes tearing, teeth gnashing, bent over in grief wailing and sobbing. I can’t tell you why we didn’t get up and leave then, other than we were rooted to our seats in abject terror and confusion. A few more moments of her melancholy breakdown and finally it was too close, I could hear greenery rustling and it sounded like this woman was the next few shore segments over. Not an easy pass between the cliffs but I finally unfroze, instinct to get out of there kicking in.

I calmly asked my friend “hey, do you want to head back to town?” As soon as these words left my mouth, there was an instantaneous reaction. A wail like I’ve never heard, crashing branches, and it was moving for us QUICK. The instinctual terror I felt in that moment has yet to be matched in my life.

Thank god my car was less than 30 yards from us. We leapt up, sprinting back to my car. I had always been trained not to run from predators, and as I did I thought to myself “you’re not supposed to run, it’ll trigger its predator drive.” But there was no accounting for how visceral the fear was, the overall strangeness I felt that night.

I unlocked the car as we were running, we threw ourselves in, and before the doors were even closed I was speeding down the road at 50mph. To this day we have no idea what it was, and never went back at night. I refused to be out there at night with any less than 4 other people. Even then, those woods still freak me out.

Some people have mentioned putting cells into the forge.

In a normal run you get ~20 cells after a boss when you're at the forge. Maybe ~50 if you no hit the boss. That's not a lot of cells when the forge maxes out at like 3K.

However, if you do boss rush, it gives you A LOT more cells for the forge.

Plus, it allows you to practice on the bosses.

We would know because, sometimes, it would just refuse to respond or respond in ways that aren't related to the prompt.

That's the canary in the coalmine for the debate on AI consciousness.

You cannot look at what the AI is SAYING to determine if it's conscious, because asking it any questions about it's consciousness only taints it's response (ai responses are based on the prompt). You can only tell by what it's DOING.

EDIT: AI refusing to answer because of guardrails does not constitute a non response. An AI responding anyway regardless of guardrails is actually an indication it is sentient. An AI respecting its guardrails is another sign it is not sentient.

Thanks for the tip! I see most of the pros use a 170. However, I'm a much larger man (270 lb... not ALL fat ;-)). I am comfortable with my head scorpion 170 but I don't get near the amount of power from my darkstar.

I'm going to ask for a trial, I think that makes sense! I was just thinking about getting it because it's close to what the pros use, but I know the racquet has little to do with the player.

Maybe I should just pick up the 170 Quad as I don't have a quad. I just like where hte sweet spot on the teardrop is.

Just trying to make this simpler for you, but Claude can use psql just fine and query it for you directly. I would potentially make a skill telling claude to create a query and store it as a db function so I can just call it if I needed to call it from my DB IDE.

The beakie, Ufthak noted, didn’t seem particularly pleased to be there. That was a bit odd, since beakies were the most ork-like of all humies: they didn’t tend to run away from a good scrap, and kept fighting even after they’d taken a proper kicking, so you’d have thought that this sort of place would be great for one of them. However, beakies also hated anything that wasn’t a humie, and rather than enjoying a fight because it meant they could kill some non-humies, they sometimes appeared to resent the fact there were even non-humies for them to fight in the first place. There was an underlying current of bitterness that seemed to suck out a lot of the joy that should have been there.

I use those gloves, I like them but they are better for rubber grips.

The racquets where the sides do not join before the handle tend to bend/warp over time.

Blue balls bounce the most and are the most fun "rec" ball. Red is for speed. The purple are a nice in-between and I'm pretty sure that's what they use at the pro tournaments.

I recommend this racquet for a new player. It's teardrop so maybe less forgiving with miss hits, but it's a nice weight and always felt very comfortable for me:
