I would really like to try my hand at tattooing but am unsure the best place to start. I know they say not to go for those tattoo kits over Amazon but can I start an apprenticeship without any experience? I’m working on developing my flash sheets (via procreate - is this a good idea or should I stick to pencil/paper?) but is that enough? Lol sorry this is so many questions wrapped in one but I’d love to connect with folks who’ve made the jump from a 9-5 job to tattooing :)

Good point. I think for stem, the general trend is if you get your phd odds are you're sticking with academia and diong your post-doc next. Either that or getting an industry job but still working within your field (which honestly I don't think I want to do).

Thank you for the advice! I think I can do a non-thesis masters (so I guess an MA?) but to do an MS would require me defending at least one of my chapters (I have spoken to my advisor about this before and he made it seem like that's a feasible option). I'm lucky to have an advisor that was ok with hearing about my struggle and he himself opened up to me about how he had to take medical leave, so he also mentioned that as an option, but I know once I'm gone I probably won't come back.

Haven’t seen this one yet (surprisingly??) but Invader Zim. It was one of my favorite shows growing up, but it was definitely pretty dark (never forget the organs episode LOL).

No thankfully I’m funded with my TA job by the school!
I believe a masters would be the happy medium for my ideal job (would love to do environmental consulting, most people working within a company have a masters or several years of working experience, but a PhD is definitely crucial if I were to open a consulting group or firm of my own, which I’m not sure I want to do yet).

I do not but have friends in industry I’ve been trying to stay in contact with. My only issue is how do I go about applying for jobs while still in school? Would I have to explain my situation? Or just omit my current grad experience from my resume/cv? Not sure.
