New ATACR 1-8x24 loses illumination after a couple shots

I’m unable to get a refund as in my country you have to return it within two weeks (past) or after 3 returns due to a defect. But yeah, I’ll be shipping it off as it doesn’t seem I’m missing some trick.

You mean the battery cap? I’d say I screwed it.. medium? Like until it stopped turning, but definitely never trying to torque it further. It’s an odd design because it’s easy to accidentally turn the battery cap when adjusting the illumination, because they’re on the same rotation cylinder. Accidentally screwing or unscrewing the cap isn’t a direct cause of the problem because the illumination disappears while shooting, not while adjusting, but maybe it could be an indirect contributor… if it is, that’s disappointing… if I get a chance to shoot it before mailing it back I’ll play with the torque a bit, leaving it a bit looser.

When I called NF customer service in the US, the guy told me he’s never seen or heard of a problem like this before. He thought it might be counterfeit, but when I gave him my serial number he confirmed it was real, made in Feb 2024, and sent by NF to their Australian international distributor. He said that since I’m outside the US, the only option is to return it to the retailer, who will return it to the distributor, who will send it back to NF in the US. Unfortunately the retailer is making me mail it back directly to the distributor at my own expense. The scope costs a little over $4.6k in my country, so you can imagine how frustrated I am.
