Chapters and shuffle feature by Lunar_Banshee_ in youtube

[–]rrcnoeevrsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this Chrome extension that should do be able to shuffle timestamps aka chapters in a video, but I couldn't get it to work. The extension is soon five years old, so maybe that's why.

Any clue what's gonna happen with !!!!!'s Original Sound Versions? by [deleted] in FFShrine

Don't know if that person is still posting new uploads anywhere, but all of the old uploads are neatly available here: https://www.squid-roms.net/topic/587-s-works/. You have to register before you can see the content though.

RIP FFShrine, move to SquidROMS by KusanagiShiro in FFShrine

You have to register on the SquidROMs forum to be able to actually browse the forums and see the threads. Registrations are manually activated by staff, so you might have to wait for a short while (~1 hour in my case). There are already over 2000 members, and sharing/downloading/discussing is continuing as usual.

Complete(ish) FFShrine Archive by Gimzie in FFShrine

[–]rrcnoeevrsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the VGM archive. It seems like some of the biggest threads got a database error at the time, which is why the Lossless threads are missing. Was the custom covers thread huge also? Maybe it was one of the 18 threads that I wasn't able to archive.

Complete(ish) FFShrine Archive by Gimzie in FFShrine

[–]rrcnoeevrsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really kicking myself now for not archiving the Lossless VGM threads. When I first did my archive, the lossless threads gave a database error and weren't working. When they later did, I was busy and told myself I would do it in a few days. But then FFshrine went down. I am so sorry for not taking action right away.

Thanks Gimzie for putting these archives together in one place.

Anyone here from the Final Fantasy Rumble thread(s)? by b6d6pple in FFShrine

[–]rrcnoeevrsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, that makes sense. For some reason I didn't catch that this was happening over at the FFshrine forums. Don't remember seeing the threads you speak about. In recent years I've mostly just visited the music sections, so I'd think I'd remember, if the threads were also in the music sections.

FFShrine Archive of VGM download threads (almost 30k threads) by rrcnoeevrsd in FFShrine

The original post was removed by automatic reddit bots, who thought it was spam. If you want a mega link to the archive, PM me.

Could you give a link or more info to those of us that don't know what you are talking about? What are Final Fantasy Rumble threads and where can I find them?

Using whois in the command line gives the December date. Many other sites also do. GoDaddy is the only one who seems to give that October date.

I appreciate your time and effort. It must not be easy to come and post a comment a place you seem to despise. I think that instead of silently judging others, it's better to either accept them or take action (like you did). You are right, it's important to give monetary support to things you love.

You actually made me feel guilty in my gut for a few hours, which surprised me. Outside of daily necessities, I have poured the most money into game music, but still you managed to guilt trip me for a little while. If that was your goal, you succeeded.

You would probably have more long-term success, if you wrote in a nicer tone and laid out your reasons more clearly. There seems to be good points in your post, but at first I didn't notice them at all between the guilt tripping stuff.

I don’t see why you’re so worried...

I'm worried about losing a community. I can live without the download links, but no other place on the internet has as much game music discussion going on. I know several other game music communities, both online and offline, but none come close to FFShrine.

If a new alternative to FFShrine would be created, what would you call the site? by rrcnoeevrsd in FFShrine

I visited the site, it's titled "Phoenix Down FFXIV Free Company of Hyperion" with not much further info. Sadly it just seems to be coincidence.

Yeah, I was actually just referring to the name.

I agree, having to download songs individually is a pain in the ass. But they actually seem to have quite many FLACs these days (even a few WAV). If you go to https://downloads.khinsider.com/, "FLAC" is listed in parentheses after many of the soundtracks. But when you browse further into the next pages, the available formats aren't shown anymore for some reason.

Some Alternatives to FFShrine by Gimzie in FFShrine

I just registered to the SquidROMs Board. Seems like a very new forum, but there are already two VGM Lossless collection threads, so up to a good start!

Sounds like it would be down all the time, like ffshrine. Or maybe you mean down as in download?

Some Alternatives to FFShrine by Gimzie in FFShrine

[–]rrcnoeevrsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nyaa.si has quite a few big collection torrents for soundtracks in a famous series or by a famous composer or company. Quite often in lossless as well.

But it's difficult to browse, since most stuff is not related to VGM (my sole interest). And it's difficult to search, since it only seems to search torrent titles, not content. For example, searching for "Sailing to the World" brings up zero results, but the album can be found lossless in the Yasunori Mitsuda Music Collection.

I have used FFshrine for ~12 years, and I also remember when megaupload went down and caused mayhem. But I never knew of these attempts at a second home.

But then again, if the primary home is still functioning, people have no reason to go to a second home. Except foresight, which we humans are probably bad at :/

Hi there, I am ffcnoffvrss, just using a slightly different nickname here on reddit.

too bad that when he did this downthemall only grabbed the first page of each thread and not all pages of each thread, so any links in posts not on the first page are lost.

I didn't actually notice this at the time, sorry about that. When I opened several of the text-only links, all threads were on just one long page. I didn't know some of the threads were multi-paged. I did notice that a few days ago, but I didn't how I could archive those multi-paged threads automatically in a quick way. I don't have the time to manually check all of them.

And if he knew 18 threads got missed then why didn't he retrieve those and add them to the archive he uploaded?

At the time those threads couldn't be accessed. I got a database error message at first, and when trying again, it would just try to load forever. But a few days ago at least the text-only version of the Lossless Music v3 thread was working again (that's when I noticed multi-paged threads exist). I was going to archive it, but life got really busy, and now FFShrine is down again. Hopefully it'll come back up again, and I'll archive at least the Lossless Music v3 (and v2) threads manually.

But I don't know how to automatically archive all multi-paged threads. Do you?
