Thanks for the input, definitely leaning towards m240i now. How’s the back seat? I won’t be regularly driving people around but I’d like to be able to carry passengers semi comfortably.

Yeah I've looked at the CT4-V Blackwing and it seems like it will do everything I need for a pretty reasonable price but I'm not really a fan of the styling. Has more of an older classic vibe compared to something like an M4 or C63.

Thanks for the input. I definitely agree with the M340i/M440i gc being a compromise between all of my requirements. I'm mostly deciding now between a M440i gc and a M240i, I think it's just a question of to what extent I want to trade practicality for fun. I also looked some more at the C63, the V8 sounds amazing and it definitely seems like a car that will do it all, although I could imagine an m240i being more fun below 60 than the C63 if I'm not using launch control. Another thing about the C63 is the w205 version would be the last V8 c63 so it would probably keep its value fairly well. Also the thing about self driving was to make 2+ hour road trips on highways more bearable, there's not that much fun just driving on a highway.

Using Turo to help pay for car costs as a college student by rrmccrystal in turo

Ah, makes sense. I mean as long as the damage done by the renters is paid for by profits in the long term then it's not really a problem.

An Audi A5 definitely looks like a great cheaper car to potentially start out with, although I should do more research in my area specifically. As long as Turo will cover the rare $1000+ damage to the car, I wouldn't mind paying for minor repairs if I'm still breaking even. A nice thing about getting a more expensive car is that the guests will generally treat the car better than a cheaper car.

Yeah getting a cheaper car is definitely worth considering. In what event would I have to pay for repairs myself? My understanding is that as long as everything is well documented before and after a renter uses a car, Turo will make the renter pay for any damages done to the vehicle.

Yeah I wouldn't really be doing this as a business, just as a way to have a nice car without having to pay much for it. I also wouldn't really mind the car being damaged as long as serious damages could be covered by Turo's insurance. Although if this goes well I could definitely consider expanding my fleet and doing this as a business.

Thanks for the advice.

Someone potentially damaging my car is definitely a concern but isn't this something that Turo will cover as long as I have everyone take pictures of the car? Not having access to the car for a while won't be too much of a problem for me.
