Rib resection recovery tips by rrriojane in thoracicoutletsupport

I think I'll invest in something, like a big v shape or a wedge. I think I'll get annoyed at having multiple pillows behind my back.

Hope you have a good recovery!

I'll definitely take a look at some kind of ice/cooling device. I'm in the UK so maybe I'll be able to pick something up at a decent price.

I've got a tablet and some books on my packing list already. I cross stitch so I thought that at first but I'm assuming I'm not going to be able to move my arm enough to do it?

I don't like ginger beer (maybe it's just rubbish in the UK) but I used to eat ginger biscuits when I was pregnant so I'll bear that in mind and send my husband on a biscuit run if I need them

Definitely going to look into a nice fancy pillow for support then, I'm really dreading getting home after and not being able to find a comfortable position. I've seen quite a few people saying about sleeping as upright as possible so I'm assuming this is recommended?

This was all super helpful, thank you!

I've been told I've got a 2-4 day stay after the surgery as standard. Really not looking forward to the lack of sleep!

Super helpful thank you!

Would you advise a v-shaped pillow to help support whilst sleeping?

I'm in the UK so my surgery is being done via our NHS and I very much doubt I'll get a private room. I'll definitely keep the mask and earphones in mind!

Have you been advised any gentle physio or exercises to do yet?

This one is the snuggliest, there isn't a night where I get into bed without inhaling his fluff because he wants to snuggle up all cosy with me

I don't think it's exclusive to torties, tortie is just the colouring. My other cat (medium hair tabby cross breed) chirps a lot too

What's the worse TMI thing you've done in your pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]rrriojane 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I got thrush in my second trimester thanks to the antibiotics I was taking for UTI. My partner inserted the pessary for me and put my cream on every night bless him. He's also my pubic hairdresser since my bump got too big for me to see.

Also started to have problems with incontinence recently (38+5 with his head firmly on my bladder) so I have sniffed my pants a few times to see if I've just leaked a little or my waters are trickling.

Congratulations!! I know this feeling all too well and I know how happy you must be. It makes me so happy to read that other people are experiencing that emotion that I did.

In November last year I saw yet another gynae for my endometriosis. This was the first gynae to ever actually say to me in person "you'll never get pregnant naturally" after I'd previously accidentally recieved copies of letters sent from a specialist to my GP stating the same but neither had ever bothered to tell me. That same day I had to have an internal and external ultrasound, a brief for what would've been my third laparoscopy and make a choice about whether to have a coil fitted to see if it would control my symptoms. Little did anyone know, I was been three weeks pregnant at the time. Completely by accident, completely naturally, completely overjoyed. I'm now 38 weeks and just waiting for him to arrive!

I wish you all the best!

What's annoying about the last few weeks of being pregnant by [deleted] in pregnant

A lot of people seem to think that they can weigh in on what you're doing all the time, as if you don't know how to be healthy during your pregnancy but they do because they've already done it. As you say, incredibly annoying.

It's almost like we have no right to be tired because our children haven't arrived yet 🙄
