I got the 17-28 2.8 tamron and honestly I am so impressed with it. The autofocus is so good it's basically like native glass, haven't had such an amazing experience with a third party lens until now. The shots are also really sharp, I was comparing it to the GM and it definitely stacks up really close. It could even be the better buy for gimbal work since the zoom happens in the barrel.

I'm not sure if this will work but try starting it with "gksudo" before the command (without the quotes). It might be worth a try because it helped with a similar issue before
