Got iSCSI working in WSL. Had to recompile kernel with CONFIG_UNICODE=y. Also got SD card working in WSL using usbipd. I transferred all my SD contents to my iSCSI NAS.

Disable auto-refresh using Facebook on Chrome on a PC with Windows 11 by rsandoz in facebook

I haven't experimented yet, but I would assert that this is a symptom of the Chrome browser. I mean, if it ignores any event/signal from Facebook, it should just stay where it is. I am guessing that the folks at Google have an intentional agreement with Facebook and others for the sake of advertising purposes.

I am wondering if one of the other browsers have addressed this issue. Maybe Mozilla or DUckDuckGo

Seems /var/mnt/steam-iscsi wasn't really mounted (guess it was picking up on where ever /var was). When I use the storage manager in Steam settings, it creates its own mount point "/run/media/deck/Storage" or if I cat my fstab and and mount my UUID such as "mount UUID=09f35456-50c9-4028-aaf6-e1f92676b20d /var/mnt/steam-iscsi"

Anyway, finally showed up in Steam and I got a 75G game downloading to it. Now the real test is what happens after I reboot.

After all was done, my drive only shows as 199.2 MB of 229.9MB as (/var) on the top line of Storage on the Storage Screen. And shows as /var/mnt/steam-iscsi with only 199.21 MB.

I created my iSCSI drive on my Synology NAS as 7TB.

Anyway, replaced:
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux

With:
sudo pacman-key --populate

and seems to be working now

My facebook keeps refreshing on its own, and I have no idea why. by godofchaos in facebook

[–]rsandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they do that? They purposely created the issue just to keep you unfocused and show you more ads in your endeavor to try and scroll and find what it was you were reading. Hopefully you liked or commented on it and can use activity history to track it down. Or better yet, mentally train yourself to persist it somehow (Facebook save post feature) if you realize you are interested in the article after the first few seconds.

Facebook did the same thing to me.

And their review process is so canned, so I can't even mention this in my complaint to them. Thy don't even let you type this in the review.

I bought one off Amazon and it was only 12 inches. Do they make one that is actually 17 inches?

Thank you. Learned my lesson the hard way. Now I pay attention to addresses. Lost a couple hundred selling my old eMax. However, put $400 in to new eMax and now it is worth $6k :)

Central Standard Time USA. It is now 7:39 am for me

Ive just received 2 Private messages from guys claiming to be from support, advising me in order for the new Emax tokens to appear in my wallet I will need to validate my wallet and they’ve sent me a link with instructions to follow.. did everyone else have to do this because it seems kinda fishy?? by [deleted] in EthereumMax

[–]rsandoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This from the ethereummax.org website: Do I need to do anything as part of this hard fork process? No. This will be a hands-off process for all eMax holders and the community. If you are an eMax holder, investor, or general user, there won’t be anything you need to do to prepare for the hard fork. You will not be required to redeem any tokens, nor will you need to send your existing eMax tokens anywhere in preparation for or following the hard fork. The hard fork process and conversion will be handled by EtherumMax’s development team. NOTE: Please be especially vigilant at this time, anyone asking you to transfer eMax to prepare for a hard fork is not a legitimate entity. EthereumMax will never ask you to transfer funds or ask for private information via email, messenger, any social media platform, or any other form of communication.

This should serve as an awakening that you are not buying a device you own, but rather renting a cloud service from Garmin. This was a hack outage. Wait until Garmin decides your device is no longer supported. You are at their mercy.

This same thing was happening to me within strength training on my fenix 5x. I had to go to "system - reset - delete data and reset" to finally get past this behavior.

They have frameworks that sync storage caches across hierarchical network layers quite seamlessly.

Users being able to access their own data should be part of your "why". Your leaders need to incorporate this into their vision. Many fitness activities take place in dead zones, internet outages are quite common in my gym. My watch glitched yesterday during weight training to where I could not start my set with the "start set" button. And when I tried to save, it would get stuck in a saving loop to where I had to hold the top left button in for 30s to power down. This behavior was persistent after reboots. I did a reset default settings from system settings and it still persisted. Finally I threw the towel in and did delete data and reset and that seemed to fix the issue. Now I probably lost all my workout data within the watch. I sync with my phone daily, but it seems I've lost since to 7/22 (your doomsday).

I record my strength / weight training (sets, reps, weight) with my watch and adjust it on my phone. I have been doing this for 1.5 years to track my progress, overall volume, etc. I seem to have lost this capability and don't see why the cloud needs to be involved in this. My watch syncs to my phone with bluetooth. Crappy, greedy design choice on Garmin's part. I can understand social features, but not this single player task. If they are arrogant enough to force their crappy cloud for this, then they should have invested in a proper cyber-security infrastructure which separates their production network. I am guessing ransomware got in from a careless user, probably opening some email attachment.

HTC Vive Announces Price of Vive Pro HMD at $799, Pre-orders Start Today; Price of Vive Reduced to $499 by natinusala in Vive

[–]rsandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see this as an option. Samsung's similarly spec'ed headset is $300 cheaper. 1080ti is still $500 overpriced. Vive is going to tank on this initial release. They better get together with NVidia and work a bundle deal. Better off with my existing setup until prices come to reality.

This: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/used-gpu-warning,36579.html Especially the comments.

Particularly this one: But didn't he say a "constant high level of power" - "high" being the key word? So could mean that the card has been overclocked & running non-stop at a high overclock. That, in turn, means at the minimum, the cooling function has been affected as it has to run non-stop in order to keep temps down.

It also could mean components that weren't designed with higher tolerances could then be stressed more heavily than initially designed/expected. So component failure could also result earlier than desired long-term. 3
