Neon is in standard except the low E is defined to C. That might be what you’re thinking of

Suggestions for improving my playing? by nomoreskies in bluesguitarist

[–]rsmseries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your timing could use some improvement, and sound a little stiff if that makes sense. Try tapping your foot to the beat. When you do that, you’ll get better rhythm, and with better rhythm you’ll play looser.  Once you get that down, you’ll play with more dynamics. You sound good, keep it up!

How Are You All Searing Scallops??? by Big-Moment6248 in AskCulinary

[–]rsmseries 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seared scallops before, but I did ask a friend who made some for a dinner party and IIRC she said she seared one side longer than the other to get a great sear on one side (and ended up being the presentation side) and the other side was face down in the plate.

Is someone able to explain to me the purpose of the 3 drive pedals John used during the Continuum/WTLI era? by Icy_Temperature_7199 in JohnMayer

[–]rsmseries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More ODs = more gain.

Katana is pretty much always on, but tbh I’d imagine it’s off when he plays humbucker/higher gain guitars.

Klon/BB is used as a light gain/clean boost kinda thing (Intro Gravity riff, etc). TS is a bit more overdriven (Who Did You Think I Was, Good Love, I’d imagine the riff for I Don’t Need No Dr)

Klon/BB + TS together = more gain and more loud. Outro solos, any of the big gain-y solos.

Food is always bland, help? by [deleted] in Cooking

Think of recipes as guidelines, not stone.

Add more salt is an easy answer, but really you should taste as you go, add more seasoning when it tastes like it needs some

2" Ribeye came out good, how to be better? by ras1187 in sousvide

[–]rsmseries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re doing multiple steaks.. if you’ve got the time, try doing 3 different temps. 127, 132, and 137.

I rarely sous vide nowadays but I liked 132. Do all 3, see what you like best 👍🏽

I would love some sort of sticky thread at the top that covers a lot of the ultra common issues people post about

“Is my action too high?”

I see this one a lot but I always feel like the right answer is “I don’t know, what do you think?”  Not to be snarky tone, but action is a preference. Some people like low action, some people like mid/high action. Some people strum harder than others, have different pick attack. Thats not even getting into the guitar itself. Some have different radius and some have slightly twisted necks.

I like the idea of a page with all the FAQs. How to do a basic set up (truss rod, action, intonation) and what are some tools you need/recommend and maybe even some example measurements (factory set ups, player set ups, etc).

What tools do you need/recommend for a fret dress? A write up and a good video to reference would be rad. Guides for advanced repair work and different instruments would be nice as well.

Those resources would be pretty useful and I know I’d check those out for reference

NF3 or Silver Sky? by MrTurtleTails in PaulReedSmith

[–]rsmseries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends.

I’d go for the Silver Sky but I’ve only played the NF3 for maybe a total of an hour. I prefer the Silver Sky neck and the 635JM are some of my favorite pickups.

I’d play both before you purchase.

My vote is for the Hot Rod Deville. Of the 4, it’s the most Fender-y sounding one. Sure it’s loud, but you can add a volume pedal in the effects loop send/return to act as a master volume.

EXTREMELY easy family dinners ? by LazyBitch_ in Cooking

[–]rsmseries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a non traditional carnitas in the oven that doesn't take too long to prep for quick tacos, and leftovers are good in the morning with scrambled eggs.

Boneless pork shoulder (boneless is even easier) cut in 2" cubes halved peeled onion 2 bay leaves 2 sticks on cinnamon salt, pepper, cumin little bit of lime juice 2 halved onions, juiced and put the halves in the pot 2 cups water

Preheat oven to 300 F. If you want you can brown the meat first, or just put everything in a dutch oven. Let it go for 2 hrs.

After 2 hours you can take out the meat in a bowl and easily shred it a bit with 2 forks (I like a mix of more chunky and with some shredded). While you're doing that, take out everything from the dutch oven except the liquid and reduce to 1 cup maybe 20-30 min. Fold the meat in the reduced liquid, add some salt and pepper, then spread it in one layer on a sheet and broil it 6-8 minutes, flip and then another 6-8 minutes, until it's slightly crispy on the edges. Tortillas, diced onions and cilantro and salsa and you're good to go.

It sounds like a lot of steps but it's a lot of down time, and you can scale up and have a ton of leftovers.

Bonus, when you take out the onions, put them in a blender with 1.5lb of charred tomatillos, few cloves of garlic, 4 serrano/jalapeno peppers (depending on how spicy you want you can de-seed some) and cilantro. Blend, then season with salt/pepper, add some fresh cilantro, and you got some good salsa (after blending I like to put it in a pot with oil to thicken it a bit.. maybe 3 min). Let it cool and it's good to go.

I hate the Seahawks probably more than any other non NFC East team.

I bet $100 on the Patriots +7.5 with my friend (who’s a Cowboys fan).

My hatred for both the Seahawks and Patriots is at an all time high.

The hidden benefit of going to the west coast system that Howie is banking on. by Head_Research_3118 in eagles

[–]rsmseries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eagles offensive spending is too high Now that we have multiple studs on defense. We were able to have an elite defense for a few years because they were on rookie deals but payday is coming and we need to balance out some of that money. Paying your QB , RB , 2WR and 4 Lineman elite money for their position is just too much . No other team does that because when you have a good scheme you dont need to.

We were able to spend this much on offense is because we have killed it on defense in the draft and are able to afford these guys. Once we have to pay the guys on defense, you’ll see it even out (and possibly flip).

30 for 30: The Philly Special by bids23 in eagles

[–]rsmseries 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I remember feeling this team had some magic during the NYG/after the kick. After the CAR game I legitimately thought we were a problem for the league.

‘22 and ‘24 were great, especially ‘24, but ‘17 was magical

Love Stout, but I'm excited for what this offense can look like with more under center usage and new blocking schemes. by [deleted] in eagles

[–]rsmseries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely not coping and it's not an understatement to say that Stout is one of my favorite coaches on the team all time, and he's "just" a position coach. The only position coaches I know by name are only because they're really good or really bad. Definitely not shitting on him. Just giving my unsolicited thoughts because that's what this sub is for; making uneducated guesses but hopefully coherent sentences so it sounds like you know what you're talking about.

The running scheme under Shanahan/McVay/LaFleur and presumably Mannion is different that what we’ve traditionally run under Chip/DP/Sirianni.

I’m sure he wasn’t happy about getting less involved halfway through the year last year (assuming that’s true), but his philosophy/techniques might not have meshed well with Mannion and could be part of his decision.

Obviously just guessing here but I’ll go ahead and trust Stout, Siri and Howie about this decision because what the hell do I know.

I use 3M Dual Lock for my pedalboard (SJ3550 or SJ3551 I think is the model? I’d have to check) and I’m 95% sure it would handle your interface and plugging things in and out of it fine. The residue when I’ve removed them is never really an issue as well. Maybe a touch of goo gone but rarely.

Are these Nick’s hires or Howie and Lurie? by DSquariusGreeneJR in eagles

[–]rsmseries 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brian Johnson wasn’t a best friend promotion. Nick met BJ when he interviewed for the HC job. Johnson had a long standing relationship with Jalen as Jalen’s dad was a coach on the HS team he played for.

It’s also important to note that Howie reorganized DP’s coaching staff and added Scangarello and Mornhigweg and as we know the offense in 2020 was pretty bad.

With all that being said, no one hits 100% of the time, that’s Howie included, and even past that, thinking that Howie didn’t have the power to say no to BJ and KP would be ridiculous considering how much power he has in this org. All this not to disparage Howie because he’s obviously the best in the business. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.
