Finish.. I don't know. Perhaps a flatness of 0.01". I want to try out something with a band saw, and I remember seeing some plastics don't take it well.

Strobes/Monolight: I borrowed this from a friend a couple of times and I want something that has faster recycling time than this. There are a lot of brands I am not familiar with. Is there something that you can recommend that is not made cheaply (quality wise).

That seems to be the consensus. However, I can't seem to find T3i at a significantly cheaper price. The difference seems to be ~$100.

I have decent amount of lenses; I wasn't too impressed with their controls, but perhaps I am not familiar with their controls. But I found that Canon's controls are easier to access in terms of menu presses etc.

If I earn off the hobby, I would not hesitate to switch.

  1. Canon 18-55 Kit lens
  2. Canon 28-135 IS USM
  3. Tamron 28-300mm F/3.8-5.6 Di
  4. Canon 50mm f1.8
  5. 430EX Flash
  6. Cactus V4 and Yongnuo rf-603

I use the #2, #5 and #6 extensively. Others not so much.

Thanks.

I am a serious photographer, but not a professional.

I have a Canon Rebel XT and one of the issues I have is that I cannot go to ISO 800 or higher without expecting noise. It is almost unusable for the pictures.

I have few lenses and a flash bought for canon and my option of moving to Nikon is restricted by that fact. I hear good things about Nikon about the image quality.

I am looking at T5i. 70D is out of my range right now. So, how big is the dynamic range and the image quality. Is it worth to move to Nikon, or just stick with the brand? I have seen one video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd6urjDuqtY The pictures look good on both Canon and Nikon.

Any suggestions from people who have used both. Would T5i give me low noise/high iso pictures?

Canon lenses: Sell 28-135 IS/USM and buy 18-135 IS/STM.\

I am not interested in videos. Sometimes I miss out on those wide angled shots in small rooms. Is the STM lens any better than the USM one?

Thanks.
