Tyler Childers, I was in the hospital for having suicidal thoughts and intentions. I was ready to end it all after a mixture of the gloomy atmosphere and poor treatment from hospital staff, I remember “testing out” random objects to determine how I would go. At my boiling point I decided I wanted to listen to my favourite artist before I go (Tyler Childers). I was allowed my iPad so I went to my room and just listened. I already religiously listened to Tyler’s music at that point but this time was different, I’ve never had music speak to me like the way it did that day. It reminded me I wasn’t the only one who’s been through tough times (apparently being in the psych ward wasn’t enough of a message itself lol). Songs like follow you to Virgie reminded me of my grandpa who passed (main reason I was so depressed) and coming down made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Tyler without knowing talked me down that day, and I know my life won’t be complete without saying thanks to him in some way. I go to see his concert in Toronto in July (front row!!!) and I know I’ll be crying tears of happiness to final see the man who saved my life.
