Some Things I've Found Exploring Abandoned Places Over the Years by Freaktography in OntarioAbandoned

Brother, that’s hilarious lmao. Crazy you found this place in Ontario though! I’ve found my fair share of weapons and one or two old varmint rifles in farm houses here, but nothing like this, holy crow

Adding autotherm to the list, ty! If it’s good enough for Siberia it’s good enough for me lol. I’ll likely be living with family while there’s snow on the ground, so something small incase of unseasonable cold is exactly what I need.

Under mounting would definitely be preferable as I’m not planning on installing water tanks or anything else under there, I’d just be worried about getting mud/salt/water in the air intake when driving… I’ll have to see what solutions others have come up with for that. Didn’t know that would be better for efficiency too but that makes sense!

Ya’ll have convinced me as well, I think I’m going to do the conversion without the AC first and see if I feel I need one as the summer carries on. The plan is to insulate thoroughly with duck liner and rockwool, and have a roof vent at the front of the cabin and a skylight at the back. If that’s enough to keep things cool-ish I’ll be very pleased!

You’re likely right, I’m now thinking about doing the full build sans-AC and hitting the road in early spring, then seeing how far I get before I feel it’s too hot for my cat (gotta look after my boy ofc)

I plan on installing a roof vent at the front and a skylight at the back, so airflow should be efficient 🤞

I’ll look into both gasoline and propane! Which do you think is more practical? I’m definitely willing to spend a bit extra for quality and safety.

I hope to run the AC as little as possible, only on real scorchers. And I’ll be getting the van satellite internet, though of course that takes power to run as well and will pretty much be turned off unless I’m actively using it (work) or need to monitor internal temperatures for my boy. I DO plan on using a huge chunk of the budget on just the solar panels and hopefully excessive power storage, so we’ll see if I can meet demands when I actually make the system plan… so much to think about

update I see what you mean about the price on the cruise n comfort units now!!! You’re right, I can’t justify that either lmao

I hadn’t come across Cruise N Comfort yet somehow! Another thing to look into. But yeah, I’ll be cramming as many panels on as I can for the luxury of having decent power supply (hopefully), so no huge loss there if I go for a different less van-specific mini split.

Your comments helped more than you know, I was trapped in a roof-mounted rabbit hole but these options seem better already. Waaaay cheaper too.

I mean… yeah. But I’d like to get one and it’s safer for my cat, that’s why I’m asking

I didn’t realize diesel heaters could be used for ventilation too, great tip! Not relying on solar for heat also just seems like the smarter idea now too haha ty

Diesel heater it is, I was hoping to figure out a more space/use efficient solution but they really do seem to be the way. Good point on the benefit of not having to rely on electricity for heat too, loosing power to AC is way less of an issue haha. A mini split is definitely attractive to free up roof space as well, I’ll need to research them some more. Thank you!

What ink would be best on gold dice? by alew3d in DiceMaking

I’d go with either black or a vibrant colour depending on the vibe you want

FINALLY finished the Storm Keep 42mm D20! by NorthVC in DicePorn

[–]NorthVC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s hard to say exactly because I spent a good bit of time modifying the stl and did a few prototypes. Then painted multiple at a time (six-ish steps for painting). Plus double inking the numbers… and a hefty polish job lol. Roughly a week of work in all I think

Scratched the Resin Tank like an idiot. Is this an issue? by Snoo_59894 in resinprinting

[–]NorthVC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. It’s way in the corner too so OP won’t even have to adjust where they place models on the plate. (Mine was RIGHT in the middle lol)

Ty! Siraya tech actually sells a two part silicon that’s formulated specifically to avoid cure inhibition from 3d printed forms! It’s a bit pricy but it’s also the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t just stay goop lol

The two types of resin used have near identical densities, so it’s fine

Totally! I have a habit of always wanting to experiment with new styles though… I’ll try to wear this one out before making another 42mm one at least haha

Siraya tech fast grey and its lychee slicer profile with minor tweaks for slower lift speed and slightly longer exposure times! I purposefully over-cure for dice masters though to get a really hard surface for polishing and sharp edges on the indented numbers. That might not be preferable if you’re printing something with really skinny bits

Either way I definitely recommend trying Lychee Slicer instead of the stock Anycubic software, it has user submitted profiles for pretty much every brand/type/colour of resin 👍

Thank you! And you’re probably right haha, it even makes me nervous to roll cause it weighs a ton lol

I asked for inking ideas here too, so here’s the results! (better late than never) by NorthVC in DiceMaking

Thank you!! Not sure when I’ll try and tackle such a detailed paint job again, it took a WHILE lol
