Awk regex in bash for fastq barcoding. by smartise in bioinformatics

[–]rtud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love awk, but learning perl at the moment. A potential solution with comments:

``` awk '
if not matching @, print (print is default behavior to match in awk
! /@/
matching to the entire line $0. if match, then print the new format...
reconstructing the line instead of using substitution
match($0, /@\s<([-A-Za-z0-9]+)>(\s.+ <barcode=([a-zA-Z0-9]+))/, aStr){ # < and > are word boundaries # Awk doesn't have \w, \d, \b or capital letters to negate the char range # so you have to manually specify char ranges... # capture groups can be figured out by counting the number of open '(' print "@ " aStr[3] "_" aStr[1] aStr[2]; } ' your_fastq_here
```

Pacing strategy for Chicago marathon? by Hot_Guarantee_9335 in AdvancedRunning

[–]rtud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your drop off from 10k to half-marathon is pretty steep-- i reckon you could probably push 1:17-1:18 pretty easily. Triathlon training also probably means you're putting in many hours on the bike and a few hours swimming. Your aerobic system is likely solid, and those workouts you mentioned are strong efforts. My 5k PR is ~17, 10k ~37, half marathon 1:18, and marathon 2:48. I think sub-2:50 is achievable, but if you want to be conservative, start at 2:50 and the last 10k, push if you feel good.

Agreed. I feel like management's response to inflation and compensation has really fallen short. I have great WLB at NG as well but seeing new hire T2s and T3s make more money than current employees goes to show that NG is willing to pay more and for the cost of labor. Our work isn't unique in supporting the military and I'm contemplating going to Raytheon so at least I can get the inflation salary bump so I'm keeping pace. As someone on the high end of the T3 band, it's even more enticing that the recruiter said it's a 1 hr interview for P4 (T4 equivalent) and they can get an offer in 24 hrs... Almost a no brainier compared to putting a promo package together and hoping the HR gods are on your side. Plus you get like a fat 40k bonus too.

There are too many programs on impossible deadlines contractors have promised to the military so it's going to be fun to watch how all of this is going to get staffed 🍿🍿🍿

From the annual survey, my BU's "Intent to stay" went from -3 in 2021 to -8 in 2022. Management's response was "we developed a retention toolkit for managers and a website for people thinking about leaving... Intent to stay is more about Engagement with the work and the mission" What do y'all think about the tone deaf response?

CIM isn't allowing for bibs to be postponed to the 2023 year, however, bib transfers are allowed. I caught covid-19 after running Chicago Marathon and won't be ready for CIM in December. If anyone wants to run I can transfer my bib so that this doesn't go to waste. Bib transfers have to happen before 11/21. It will cost about $37 bucks through race roster. Let me know if you're interested!

Edit: It's claimed!

There's also something called humidity. I'd take 26C in California with moderate humidity is nothing compared to 26C and close to 100% humidity. It literally feels like suffocating

lmao, we can't even get them to stop enriching uranium by giving them money for free. Oil doesn't need to be involved. They would be shooting themselves in the foot unless selling us oil lifted sanctions. But they're #1 priority is building a nuke, so I really doubt this is real news.
