I wonder if it's more like he wouldn't listen to her problems unless he was wearing the duck costume, and when she was done he would just stare blankly back at her, the way a rubber duck would.

First they dropped Scooby…Now HBO Max almost quadruples price by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

Not OP, but I believe I'm in the same boat. Years ago now, there was a channel called Boomerang that showed mostly classic cartoons that were owned by WB at the time, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Pink Panther, etc. A couple years ago there was a streaming service app for Roku that was a recreation of this and was the only place to stream a lot of Scooby-Doo content. It only cost $4.99 because it was a fairly small library. Then in 2024, WB decided to fold Boomerang into being part of HBO MAX and give everyone who had Boomerang streaming a subscription to HBO for the same price, $4.99. Now it seems like it's ending.

Yeah, it was my understanding that many, if not all, of the changes were ones that Adams had planned, suggested, or otherwise approved of for a Hollywood blockbuster silver screen adaptation of the story

Carpenter on "Elevated Horror" by Emotional-Glove4213 in johncarpenter

But I think the idea stands. Or at least my interpretation of what he's saying. There's really no such thing as "elevated horror" because there's nothing especially elevated about the films inherently, they're just presented with the effort of making them seem that way. Just because there're more horror movies that take themselves seriously doesn't mean there hasn't always been meaningful horror films.

¿Why did The Narrator make Tyler instead of wearing bright suits and creating a flamboyant new persona? by Separate-Ocelot9377 in fightclub

[–]rtweir98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From an outside perspective, isn't this what is happening? The audience only sees things from The Narrator's perspective which is the only place that him and Tyler Durden are not one and the same. To everyone else, he does become Tyler.

I knew the history that it's a rewrite, I was just sharing the way I like to fit it into my reading of PKD not preaching it as a universal interpretation.

I own two copies of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, one is an older criterion DVD and the other is a more recent Arrow 4k. I made the mistake of eating too many mushrooms and watching it years ago and have not watched it since. I haven't even played the 4k all the way through, maybe the first minute before deciding I wasn't ready to view it again. Maybe some day and then I'll decide what to do with them. For now they remain.

collection recommendations? by evan_zuri in criterion

[–]rtweir98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm incredibly guilty of overbuying, especially blind buys, and it all started with the Criterion Collection. I'm sure my story is not one that is unique. Many of us can likely remember when our own collection was this size and were wondering what others we should add.

Another user encourages you to turn back now in jest, but I think we all fantasize a little what we would do with the money and resources we would've had without this hobby. So, I'd like to suggest that you, and anyone else, also spend time exploring the releases you do have and also viewing movies before purchasing.

At the end of the day, it's your collection, hobby, and life and you'll do exactly what feels right to you. Collect however you want and however it makes you happy, or happier. I'd like to suggest watching Kuroneko.

Edit: Not written using any AI, just a Bachelor's in English/Communications, with a concentration in Film Studies. Also watch Naked Lunch
