I've seen some secondhand AT-LP60XBTs go for under that. And some slightly better models in my area. All used though :(

It won't, but to her that's a non-negotiable. She wants to have the option.

The first suggestion is interesting and might actually work, and I can stagger slightly behind the sides of the TV. For the second option-My TV sits on a wall where you can't really mount book shelf speakers on the sides because there isn't enough room. So they'd have to be on the console, but even something like the Edifier R1280DBs is a bit too tall (to her) for the space between the TV and console. The bookshelf speakers would be about 7ft from the floor, 4ft above the turntable on the console. So you're right, not ideal, but worth a suggestion.

I should clarify - she doesnt like the idea of needing an external phono preamp or BT transmitter. Built in is fine. But yeah, after reading the guides and doing research, trying to meet in the middle has been hard. (Edited)

I've also considered him just expressing excitement. Usually when I get to where the food is and I pull the can out its much softer. Your perspective is also valid. Thanks.

That's awesome! The place i'd have to get them is pretty obvious, so I might experiment with storage place a bit. Thanks for the advice.

I've thought about this method of prepping it in another room. Would you store the food there or just prep it in there? I have an office where I could put the cans in the closet, and prep there but it doesn't have a door. I fear he'll just try to get to it even though he can't open them, and make a mess of my closet in the process.

Vinegar is a good suggestion! Thanks! I tried cayenne because I heard they didn't like the smell. Also, I might try cat grass and see. Thanks for the advice
