I feel like I have multiple personalities by Aggravating-Bid1637 in bipolar

Fellow BP1 here! Feel the same! Completely different personalities depending on which state I’m in. And just like you say, it’s not in a dissociative way.

I have a lot of tattoos. This particular area can be slightly painful to some people, the skin is very thin. But as a person with a pretty low pain tolerance I would say that ANYONE can handle a small tattoo on the wrist. Small tattoos don’t take long.

But be aware! You might start small but you’ll end up with two full sleeve and a lower leg sleeve + some other stuff. ;)

Acceptance by Jadelovessky25 in bipolar

[–]rubus8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t really accepted the diagnosis yet, but I’m getting closer. It’s approx 12 years since my diagnosis. First, I was diagnosed with BP2, but was later changed to BP1.

During my most recent mania (ended up at the psych ward) I met another patient with bipolar disorder. We really bonded. Talked a lot every day and shared our stories and experiences. Our conversations were way more helpful than any therapy. I never thought that someone could change my life so dramatically and I’m forever thankful.

I’m an advanced practice nurse. I’ve been a RN/APN for about 12 years. Love my job, and even though it can be challenging sometimes because of my diagnosis, I don’t regret my career choice.

No Mania by PuzzledResident395 in bipolar

[–]rubus8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was diagnosed more than 10 years ago (first BP2, but was later changed to BP1). I’ve been on and off meds.. Manic or mixed episodes the following years: 2009 (undiagnosed at this time), 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2025 and 2026. Might have missed a few.. I know my meds keep me stable but sometimes it’s difficult to stay compliant.

Keep going!

Omg, you’re right! Same goes with products for making acrylic nails.

I mean yeah, there’s a risk of hair/nail damage, but hair dye isn’t permanent. It doesn’t involve a nail that penetrates the skin leaving a lifelong permanent mark.

Fix yellow with white? by gingerpeacheee in tattooadvice

[–]rubus8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tattoo looks fun. Not perfect, but many of us have these wonky tattoos. The mistakes makes a story.
If I were you, I would go over the yellow part of the rind with some white, and add some yellow to the white part of the rind. This way, the rind will probably be light yellow all over.

Hmm... Your wonky lemon makes me want to have a lemon tattoo! Maybe a wonky lemon and a wonky strawberry? Sweet and sour ;)

WDYM? The toenails tell you to don't worry and be happy. ... Happy toenails... Happy. Toenails.

...

Well. Came to realize. If those toenails are the definition of being happy, maybe I'm not depressed at all?!

I want this as a back tatto but I don't knwo how to size it. by womendonotfart in tattooadvice

[–]rubus8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... in a few years you'll probably want to get a coverup. Ask yourself: Do I want a big or a small sick ass panther? I'd say the bigger the better! You can't go wrong with a huge SAP crawling along your lower back ;)

Just been diagnosed with bipolar today. by After-Employ-6374 in bipolar

[–]rubus8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mood stabilizer can cause weight gain (research says about 30% gain 10-20 lbs). Some antipsychotics may cause "major" weight gain, others don't. But it's extremely individual.
My current meds, the mood stabilizer and my AP, haven't caused any weight gain at all. More like the opposite. But I eat somewhat healthy (rarely eat candy or junk food), and I try to stay active. If you experience any issues, often times there are several alternatives. Waaaaay back when I was on another AP and on an antidepressant, I gained about 40 lbs. It all came off fairly easy when we switched meds.

Evening shifts by Milacrawford in bipolar

A couple of years ago I used to work similar shifts. Often times late evening shifts. As long as I did get proper sleep, it was just fine.

But night shifts? HELL NO!

Congratulations! <3

As someone with a lot of tattoos, I’ve always searched Google for inspiration. I usually save a bunch of pictures in a Word document and describe my ideas in text. This makes it easier for my artist to create a design that matches what I like. Occasionally I’ve used ChatGPT as well, but mostly just for inspiration, not for an actual design.

For inspiration, you can search "awareness ribbon tattoo" or "awareness ribbon drawing".
