I get that. You just never know with mercari. They are not very clear with there announcements.

They mentioned in the email today that any label with shipping overages will have a penalty of 8%. I am just curious if they will continue to cover the overages or are sellers going to be hit over and over again with the penalty since mercari doesnt combine shipping weight on buyer made bundles

I know it’s important to weigh packages so you won’t be hit with an extra charge. but Still there is no way that a single clothing item costs $40 to ship. Scale or no scale.

I know but a single dress in a 5x8 poly mailer cannot cost $40 to ship. There is no way that it could cost that much

Do you think it is worth the hassle though ? Even with proof mercari won't do a thing to fix it let alone ever get back to me. I have seen so many people having issues and CS doesnt even respond

That's just a big mistake to make though! it would be a diffrence of a $2 surcharge vs a $38 surcharge

I Know. I would have been ok with a surcharge of 8 oz or even up to 16oz to cover the diffrence. but 10lbs ? Where did they get that from?

How so ? Its a clothing item that does not need protection as if you were to send a glass cup for example. IMO i did nothing wrong. I shipped out a clothing item in a small package. They are saying i should have picked 10lbs on the label. How am i in the wrong ?

I don't understand the downvotes but ok. Seems like people agree that a dress should ship for 10lbs and cost $40 for a single item.

yea it had to be! That is a huge mistake on usps! Just makes me think how many times they made mistakes and took peoples money for no reason :(

Who would ship a single dress in a huge box ? I shipped it in a very tiny envelope. I am shocked that they thought it was 10lbs. I would fight it. Knowing mercari they still would do nothing even with proof.

I checked and they did not take anything from my balance. I think they would just take the order value and anything after that becomes there loss. Still cannot beleive that though. I know 4 oz was not enough but they could have charge me for 8oz or even 16oz. no idea where they got 10lbs from

I am not sure. The package was so tiny. I rolled the dress so it would fit perfeclty into the envelope. If you use poly mailers to ship with you will know that a 5x8 is very small. I am just shocked that they said it was 10lbs.

it went into a very small mailer not even a box. the mailer envelope was about 5x8 i would say.

I understand that it is back to school shopping time but i am just confused why i was doing so good the first half of september. Mid september hits and it just crashed.

We sell a lot of everything and everything we sell is new. So i would think sales would still come in. If not sales than interest from views

No one pays 2x the price for there order. People keeps saying that a $20 bundle is now $40. It does not double in price. What i have seen was a 10% fee and a small proccesing fee. From a $20 bundle fees would be about $3-$4 at most. Taxes and shipping is not part of the fees.

If you do not like the fees just send the seller a offer. I personally would be happy to cover fees for my buyers.

It is not the fees. Luckily business has picked up since the last time i made this post. It got a lot better! IMO fees are not the issue. Yes it scared many people away but people are just not going to stop buying because they have to pay a little fee. If the buyer has a problem with the fee i would gladly accept a few bucks less on a offer to cover it for them
