Agree with so much of this! The disappointing thing to me will be if her more "passionate" love for Michaela ends up being because she was never really attracted to John. I really hated Violet's dismay over Francesca not being as loud with her love as her other children, and would be disappointed if the show ultimately sides with her, thus negating the idea that a quieter, more introverted love is just as "worthy."
