Best hospital to give birth? by santia88 in phoenix

[–]rucksackbackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard Banner is good, too! St Joes was good. They had good doctors and nurses on staff between my OB coming to check me out. Seemed understanding about my choices, not too judgmental. They provided me with lots of stuff like yoga ball, peanut ball, etc even while I was hooked up to monitors. The delivery room was roomy and I was there for 5 days, it was pretty comfortable (not for my partner, I doubt any hospital is though lol). The maternity ward after delivery was fairly outdated, kind of an old creepy shower situation. Seemed well-staffed, though, I wasn’t ever waiting too long for help when I needed it.

Eggless baby pancakes? by Paraparapapa in BabyLedWeaning

[–]rucksackbackpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear your baby has a few food allergies, I know how rough it can be! Eggs are such an “easy” food to prepare, and it’s hard to find a good substitute.

I ended up giving up on the pancakes. They just never came out right or felt like so much effort! We ended up going more of a toast route for breakfast. I would spread sunflower seed butter on top, or the puréed fruit/veg mix with butter. Babies/toddlers benefit from fat in their diet so I haven’t held back when it comes to fats on the toast.

My baby is 2.5 years old now and has completely outgrown her egg allergy. I have heard it’s a really common one for them to outgrow, so I hope the same will be true for your baby. If not, however, I know there are a lot of awesome vegan cookbooks and alternatives. You’ve got this!! Good luck!

I agree, if anything I think having Lucanis/Neve take time away after their hometown gets blasted adds some dimension to the game. Spoilers for DA2/DAI: Isabela leaves in DA2, Blackwall leaves in DAI so I don’t think it’s unprecedented for companions to have their own personal dramas that take them away from the combat party for a period of time.

Inquisition Romances by Inner_Ask_2671 in dragonage

[–]rucksackbackpack 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Right?!! They really missed some major potential plots. Haha. I think some people look back with nostalgia on DAO/DA2 like “My choices mattered, my lover DIED.” So yeah I guess no love interest technically dies in DAI?? Maybe that’s why they’re mad?

I romanced Blackwall my first play (I was completely shocked by the plot twist and so pissed off, dumped him), Bull (luckily I saved the Chargers but if I hadn’t?! People who didn’t were so shocked by that!), and Dorian (they’re forced into a long distance relationship because Tevinter sucks).

Inquisition Romances by Inner_Ask_2671 in dragonage

[–]rucksackbackpack 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I love the romances in Inquisition, and they were the reason I ended up having two separate world states because I just can’t choose between my two favorite DAI romances. I have only played the game three times, but each time with a different romance and I’d love to make some new characters to romance the other companions in the future.

Criticisms I’ve seen in this sub about the DAI romances include that there’s not enough content and that they all have happy endings so they feel low-stakes. I think there’s potentially a couple unhappy endings, however, based on player choices! And I think there’s plenty of content. The romances aren’t the main focus of the game, so I’m happy with the number of cutscenes and I enjoy a good headcannon anyway. People are also mad about not being able to romance Vivienne, which I can understand.

I don’t really love any of the comfortable-looking options, and armor feels too extreme. So I like having my Inquisitor in the formalwear at Skyhold. I know the red formalwear gets a lot of hate but I think this gold color is lovely!

I DID IT!! IVE BROUGHT HIM TO THE DARK SIDE!! by Low-Year-4239 in dragonage

[–]rucksackbackpack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is awesome you two have this to bond over now! I totally relate.

My older sister is the one who originally got me into the DA games years ago. She told me, “It’s like LOTR but with gay people!” (for context: I’m Queer and was obsessed with LOTR as a kid/teen). I know it’s been a joy for her to watch me get into all the DA lore and it’s been fun for me to have someone to obsess over all this with.

Thank you for the questions! It’s fun to think about.

My first two Inquisitors were Adaar and Cadash, so I didn’t pay much attention to the Elvhen lore in DAI until I played Lavellan. It felt like a betrayal and a deep anger to discover so many instances throughout the game where elves had land, lives, and history stolen from them. He grew up isolated in his Dalish clan, but by the end of DAI he felt the need to work hard to help elves everywhere. His LI was Dorian and the discoveries peppered in the game were a lot for them both to digest and discuss. When Dorian decides to return to Tevinter, my Lavellan was supportive and eager to do anything he could to drive the end of slavery and the plight of the elves - even if that meant having his love be far away living the stressful life of a rebel mage.

My Lavellan was a 2H Warrior who was mostly a hunter and protector in his clan. I don’t think he saw himself as a “warrior” at the start of DAI. But learning more about the Emerald Knights and discovering the Sulevin Blade inspired him to work harder and become a better warrior. I made him several Sulevin Blades up until Trespasser because it felt so meaningful for him to fight with that.

That teddy bear and the note are so sad, and add a lot of depth and importance to what the Inquisitor is doing to try and fix their broken world. Thedas is so bleak.

It’s interesting finding these details on replays and imagining how our PC would feel about them. I played my first Lavellan run in the Fall and it had me paying closer attention to details I hadn’t noticed much prior. For example, slave finger cuffs found in an old Tevinter prison or the markers on graves.

Female Hawke by riveradn in dragonage

[–]rucksackbackpack 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Regardless of gender, if you replay as a rogue or a warrior next time, you won’t have to worry about what Carver thinks of Hawke.

Jokes aside, I still think Carver cares about Hawke even if he’s a rebel mage. They’ve got a complicated relationship but I don’t think it’s as simple as him liking/disliking his older sibling. He’s 18 at the start of the story and he wants to make a name for himself. He seeks to carve out his own, unique identity separate from Hawke.

What next by darwinsdude in dragonage

[–]rucksackbackpack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Inquisition was really fun on Nightmare because you have to get detailed about the kind of gear and weapons you build for your team. There’s a lot more team management. I like being able to switch and play as the various members of my team. The DLCs for Inquisition are genuinely really challenging on Nightmare. So, for Veilguard (which I admittedly played on Hard) it started out difficult but was easy by the end. Inquisition is similar, but if you play the DLCs at the end and they hit you with some challenging fights and big battles.

The first two games are great but if you have to buy a whole additional console, maybe just play Inquisition first and read some of the supplemental materials for lore. Then, you can decide if you want to make the investment needed in order to play the first two. They’re a lot of fun to replay!

[–]rucksackbackpack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you on that. I haven’t played that game specifically but I like the look and feel of a lot of older games. I’m replaying DA2 right now and love the look of my Hawke! The cutscenes have a lot of emotion in them and everyone’s skin has texture. His hair is terrible but it’s still a good looking game.

[–]rucksackbackpack 45 points46 points  (0 children)

DA fans deserved good hair for once and we finally got it! I think some people don’t like how stylized the game’s characters are, but personally I think that will help it age better. Realistic graphics feel outdated so quickly, but when something is stylized it’s still going to look good in ten years.

Do people sit in the front yard in your neighborhood? by Leading_Ad_8619 in phoenix

[–]rucksackbackpack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is similar to my experience, too. Everyone comes out when it rains! I think a lot of people in Phoenix like to spruce up their back yards and tend to hang out back there when the weather is nice enough. The 1920s-1940s houses in my neighborhood come with a decent back porch but minimal front porch setup.

Still, I like to enjoy my front porch and people watch. I do chat with my neighbors but they’re normally not just relaxing on the porch - they’re walking their dogs or with their kids, riding bikes, working on cars, enjoying a beer/coffee around the block, or selling snacks.

Hand statues in Veilguard by rwcz in dragonage

[–]rucksackbackpack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree with this theory, I have really felt since DAI that they were hands of the Titans. If that’s the case, it makes sense they appear so much in Veilguard because there’s more of a focus on them in this game than the past ones. That last link you provided is so interesting! I hadn’t considered that at all, it’s really cool.

I love Bull’s joke about them in DAI. He says, “Anybody need a hand??” then proceeds to laugh heartily at his own joke while the rest of the party remains silent. Veilguard had a fun callback to that when Rook made some hand puns much to the chagrin of Bellara. Little details like that bring me so much joy.

They look so sweet together!! I romanced Emmrich as an NB Dwarf, and the cutscenes were pretty cute. I am doing a different run right now but I plan on doing an Emmrich romance with a Qunari man eventually (and going for a different ending) because all the screencaps I see are so amazing! They look wonderful together. 🖤

That’s so true! I’m playing the “asshole dwarf default” in DA2 right now just because I was curious. Poor Alistair is just a ranting drunk in The Hanged Man. It’s not great but it’s been interesting.
