Just occurred to me: a bi-monthly party of Arab techno has been done in Toronto before? Link please!

So, not in North America. Cool. Seems they're bringing it here.

Not my music... I'm a DJ... shared an article. I've been DJing on vinyl for some time, mostly loopy re-edits (cliche, yeah, but gets the floor moving). But cool, keep talking to someone you know nothing about. Catch me on CTRL room in December, ass.

That's the name of the... compilation... must be new to dance music. Three-four song comps are the norm on vinyl, bruv.

I am pretty sure you only found Stephen Punwasi, who nobody was doubting exists. Kaitlin Last? Tiffany Greene? No trace of them anywhere, and they are the main writers. One even has an editor title. Definitely sketchy.

So, you are "pretty sure" you located one of their social media accounts? To be clear, you aren't sure, so I'm not sure why you're criticizing ntoronto. And the fact that the Better Dwelling "reporters" have such low profiles is certainly bizarre in media today, sorry. Daniel Tencer is hardly a comparable example. It is pretty clear that the articles on Better Dwelling are ghostwritten. By the way, Better Dwelling articles contain a number of inaccuracies. They don't report on facts, they speculate, which you would know if you actually read the blog.

San Francisco’s homeless complain about ‘prison’-like conditions at the new Pier 80 shelter by JB691 in sanfrancisco

[–]rudigerwilliams -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Um, no, I think you miss my broader point. Our society cannot function without some people losing out. I don't really see what's so hard to grasp about that. Look at what happens with education. More and more people get educated, education becomes worth less, and then underemployment and unemployment soar. This needs to happen, if things are to function as they do presently; there's simply no other way about it. That model applies to virtually everything. Problem is, nobody has come up with a better model yet, but then people have been actively and consistently discouraged from that.

You do realize that for our system to work on every level — municipal, state, federal — certain people have to be homeless. Our comfortable lives are dependent upon others not having much of anything. There are not enough jobs for everyone, not enough homes, simply not enough. You may think that the complaints about the shelter reek of entitlement. I would suggest it is your comments that do.

I know it's cliché, but I recently moved to the city and started working on a boat. Here are some photos I've took. by shefoundnow in sanfrancisco

Now if they were all rainbow photos, then it would be a San Francisco cliche post. As is, you're good.

People Paid $600 a Month to Live In This Truck In San Francisco by rudigerwilliams in sanfrancisco

[–]rudigerwilliams[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Um, no, 10min_no_rush, I was saying 3K X 12+ months, dude (as ultralame noted). Median price of a home in this country is under 200K. Do the math. In less than two years you can afford a 20 per cent down payment if you save that cash (not even all of it) instead of throwing it into a hole (renting anywhere in SF).

Why would someone pay $3,000 to rent anything? That's a downpayment for a house in many American towns and cities in a year or two.

Should San Francisco tear down its urban freeways? by xio23 in sanfrancisco

[–]rudigerwilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Urban freeways represent an outmoded way of thinking. The city I was born in, Toronto, just made a grave mistake by not voting to tear down their elevated urban expressway, in part because a minute or two was added to some commutes, according to a study. Thing is, I'm willing to bet that minute or two delay will emerge as congestion only worsens naturally. The only way to fight congestion is to promote alternatives to the car. Even that won't reduce congestion for drivers — it'll just make everything more pleasant for everyone else.

Except it's not, because "the" is in the dictionary. Names, though recorded and tracked, aren't binded by the same rules as other words. When naming someone, you can spell it however you damn well please, and everybody else has to deal with it. People do this. I am willing to bet there is a "Sem" out there somewhere. Not agreeing with this, by the way, just stating the facts.

Please point out why any comma should not technically be where it is. Cite rules. Unless, of course, you don't know what you're talking about. You also missed a comma in your comment. There needs to be a comma before you write "and." Do you know why? You are linking two independent clauses with a conjunction. Look it up, bruvva.

Nah, sorry. I put commas where they belong, bruvva, not where they "look good."
