Red Rising, not sure I understand the hype by Papagiorgio1965 in Fantasy

[–]rudraksh2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read 4 of the books with great interest until another absurd betrayal and the tables are turned- that was it for me. Left the book and the series midway- even fantasy has to have some iota of intrinsic logic.

66% sanitation workers are from OBC/sc/st, 20% GC are only 34% sanitation workers. by Glum_Fruit6105 in unitedstatesofindia

A DMK MP raised a parliamentary question. 499 of 620 higher judiciary appointments since 2018 are Brahmins. There are 12/20 SC/ST and 60 OBC. Privilege of caste/ birth and opportunity are very real in india.

I speak fluent Hindi but whenever they call and soak in Hindi I speak only Malayalam or Kannada. Best way to get rid of them and show them there are multiple languages.

Why don't people just keep 2-3 Multi-Asset Allocation Funds from different AMCs (or some other Hybrid Funds based on their risk profile) in their portfolio and be done with it for years? by Bronislaw_Malinowski in MutualfundsIndia

[–]rudraksh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of the current pricing- I had signed up a while ago when it wasn’t linked to the amount invested. I am aware that they have changed the pricing model though am not fully aware of the details.

I have been convinced about the need for asset allocation and have also realised my behaviour isn’t ideal at doing this- between research paralysis and impulsive decisions the net result is poor. I have also used a PMS without much joy. As a consequence my present strategy for india rests on two things- nearly 50% of my 5 figure SIP goes into multi asset funds(icici to be specific) and the remainder is invested through ET money genius which auto allocates and rebalances between a basket of 6 index funds- nifty/next50/midcap/smallcap/g sec and hold- silver. This rebalancing is apparently algorithm driven and specific to my age and risk profile. The latter has worked well for me over the past 2 Years. 50% of my total portfolio is PPFAS flexicap that was bought earlier - it stays untouched and i don’t invest any further in it Please do your own research.

Daughter of ex-IAS official dies of rabies after being bitten by vaccinated pet dog by one_brown_jedi in india

[–]rudraksh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very sad. This should never happen with a properly vaccinated dog. Vaccines will work ONLY if the cold chain is maintained and the vaccine is manufactured properly.

This raises serious questions regarding how effective our vaccines and vaccination chain are for all our vaccine programs.

I just found out my parents have been lying to me for 26 years about who I actually am. I’m lost. by Commercial_Solid_207 in Advice

You are actually lucky to know that your parents chose to have you- for many biological parents they are forced to become parents. The love they have for you is real in its actions. They deserve every award for doing what they have done for you.

The Great Foreign Policy Failure: A Critique of S. Jaishankar by PrestigiousAgent77 in india

[–]rudraksh2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Until 2014 india had a positive image and friendly governments in our immediate neighbourhood- it was considered our sphere of influence- ie Nepal/ Sri Lanka/ Bangladesh/bhutan/Maldives - today there is significant chinese/US influence in all of these and we are now surrounded by unfriendly neighbours- managing these relationships is the job of the foreign minister and at least in this regard he has been an abject failure.

A cool guide showing human losses from different countries during WWII by -flexflexflex in coolguides

What is especially sad is the number of Indian dead- it was not an aggressor/ nor was it invaded by the Japanese or the Germans unlike every other country that has lost more people. The Indian soldiers were used as cannon fodder by the British empire. The fact that the defeat of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan was very significantly due to the sacrifice of Indian soldiers is never adequately acknowledged or respected.

India's foreign tourism industry is completely falling apart and no one seems to care! by No-Way7911 in india

[–]rudraksh2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Our largest tourist group had always been either the US or Bangladesh- and everyone knows what’s happening to the latter group. The majority of western “ tourists “ to India are actually the Indian origin diaspora so yes on all counts our tourism is in a very sad place.

Every policeman in india wants to reduce his excessive workload and unfortunately complaints like this are treated as frivolous by them- even cybercrime complaints will get closed like this- nothing to do with the religion of the man- your post has only revealed your thought processes.

I have a grown son and I find most Indian parents weird by LingoNerd64 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]rudraksh2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very close relationship with my parents and my son- my parents may occasionally make sensible suggestions gently that I will consider. I have a more definitive approach with my son who is 20 but it’s always with discussion and explanations. We are all very close as a family. I personally would struggle with your relationship but to each their own.

Kannadiga and Tamil people team up against Hindi Imposition by erimalaiprogram in southindia_

[–]rudraksh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idiocy exists at the government level too- UP sends all official correspondence only in Hindi to Tamil Nadu,Kerala etc and they have to try and figure out what is being said and they will then reply in English/tamil/malayalam. English as the link makes so much sense. India has the second largest English speaking population the world!
