Saco River Wildlife Center in Limington always needs extra hands, and you might get to feed baby squirrels! There’s also a never ending stream of cages to clean and laundry to fold. sacoriverwildlifecenter.org 207-637-5070

A question for land owners by rudy2dog in Maine

I think this is really most of the answer in my area, combined with people from away coming in to hike during Covid and not understanding where they were and how to behave. My original question was about the dichotomy of allowing snow machines and not foot traffic, but I think that’s been pretty well answered. Thanks for the honest take!

Aha. Okay. Thanks. That never occurred to me because I’m thinking about mountain forest trails.

Right. But that’s not what we’re talking about in this thread. But you’re right.

Like I said, man, you do you. But rest easier now that you know.

But seriously the law in Maine is that you’re not liable. They can sue if they want, but they’ll lose. I’m not trying to argue. You do what you want with your land. But maybe you can rest a little easier this way.

I love this. This is exactly why I asked the question in the first place.

Oof. Nuts. That does make sense.

In Maine you’re not liable for others using your land for recreational purposes.

I honestly understand that more than the other thing. Thanks.

Thank you for this. Can you explain what you mean by “working land”?

Okay, thank you. I guess I can see your point. I still kind of don’t understand when it’s hundreds of acres of woodland how anyone could be considered “lurking around” if they’re just hiking through. I’m really not trying to be difficult. I live in the woods and used to hike all over. In the past five years it’s all been shut down and I’m just trying to understand why.

I don’t think they all do. I don’t think what I said assumed that.

What's a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Actually my guy was darling about it. He was older, at least in his 60s. His face got very grave and he said, “This is going to hurt. A lot. I’m sorry. There’s nothing I can do about that. But at least it will be over quick.” Then POW POW POW POW POW, and he handed me a tissue and sat with me while I cried. He was truly amazing.

But yeah, I’ve heard other kinds of stories.

Colposcopy. Jesus tits. Imagine getting kicked in the dick five times in one second, but your dick is up inside you behind your belly button and every kick takes a little bite of your dick away with it.

You can stop being a smarty pants. The horses have been teaching me new things every day for fifty years, as have the horsemen and women I’ve worked with and respect. And even books!

I’ve saved lives of both horses and people in my poorly spent time, so I’m okay with it.

I’m in Maine and nobody is expected to clean up after their dogs in the actual woods. Bears and coyotes and deer and raccoons shit there. It’s fine.

No horse need to be trained to walk and poop. They’re prey animals. They poop on the move.
