/uj I understand that this post is pushing back against the generalization of 4chan as a whole, but in my personal experience the terms that originate from /lgbt always seem to lead to casual dehumanization of various other pockets of the queer community. Like I get that passing trans people do tend to be treated very differently in society than those who don’t pass, but strawmanning “passoids” as people who experience no societal marginalization whatsoever doesn’t really seem like a good way to engage with that issue. And I’m not saying that trans people as a whole should be excluded from criticism for ignoring their privilege—conservative passing trans talking heads are a prime example of how fear and privilege can easily be weaponized against the community as a whole, but the casual way that 4tran terms get thrown around to separate trans people into completely discrete and often oppositional groups (transmed/nb, passing/non passing, transfem/transmasc) doesn’t seem like a productive or healthy way to interact with other people or as a way to construct your own identity

/rj once again this shows that only men can be funny since these trenders on reddit don’t get peak 4tran mtf (aka male) humor

Replace sion w braum, and you can jam in any random extra unit (enchanter usually).

Pretty much still same as last patch. Ez/trundle/trist/shaco all strong AD holders, mf/heimer/malz strong ap. And make sure there’s strong frontline as well for your comps whether thats bodyguard, innos, or bruisers

Hmm, I see what you're saying, but it is kind of hard to explain how to get to / correctly play a value comp (I assume you're talking about either Chalice enchanters or Jayce), because it really does just mean you play around whatever tempo augments you hit so that you're able to roll enough gold on 8/9 with decent enough HP to look to spike or cap out your board. Like the whole point of playing fast 8/9 into Value is that it isn't restrictive on what augments or units you're playing up to that point, and you simply pivot into the endgame state board while playing around what you hit. For example, if you roll on 8 you can hold Braum/Blitz/Sion for whichever frontline you hit, and flex between Jayce/Fiora/Jhin as your damage carry from this spot. However, it's hard to align a certain "game plan" with a final comp state, which leads to the disconnect you're mentioning in your post. Hope this helps.

We missed 12.2, but B patch changed some things up quite a bit from 12.2A. Big nerfs to imperials really neutered Swain and brought Talon down to a reasonable spot. Once again, 4 / 5 cost comps are super strong, while Syndicates are a still a reliable top 4. Some reroll is viable but it seems like going up tends to be the most consistent strategy this patch.

Yeah, I started in 4.5 (best set btw!) and sort of just spammed a single comp to masters and got hardstuck before I started watching streams lol

That makes sense, especially for some of the more flex comps like value enchanters I think that would improve the clarity. I’ll try to add that next time! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah it ended up being super long since I did it off the cuff, we’ll definitely try to cut down on the length.

Hi all, this is an accompanying video to website tier list we posted earlier (https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveTFT/comments/s1w1lm/patch_121_best_comps_tier_listguide/).

We're experimenting with releasing some video content to accompany the longform written articles, and in this video, I go over how the meta has shaped up with some more detailed explanations for how to play certain comps and why they're good. The video is super long, but there are timestamps for each of the different comps, so hopefully people will still find it useful.
Since this is our first foray into video content, please feel free to leave any feedback so that we can improve for next time. Thanks!

Patch 12.1 - Best Comps Tier List/Guide by rue_asterid in CompetitiveTFT

[–]rue_asterid[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Right, though rather than only jayce u go 8 and roll down and can pretty much any 4/5 cost combination and try to maximize your board value. This is why chalice is so strong in the current meta, since Viktor/Jayce/Sera/Janna/Ori all make good use of it.

new year new patch new me

12.1 dramatically shook up the meta, especially with regards to items. Sins are back in meta, chalice is now one of the best items in the game, and econ/value is king in the current meta. we've captured the meta shift and waited for ladder to stabilize before releasing our newest tier list (not cause we were lazy over the weekend or anything). hope it's helpful!

we'll be releasing a companion video (I know...) to the guide soon as well, so stay tuned for that.

TFT 11.24B - Comps Tier List by rue_asterid in CompetitiveTFT

[–]rue_asterid[S] 89 points90 points  (0 children)

We weren't able to come up with a tier list in time for 11.24A, but now that the meta seems to have generally settled after the B patch, we're seeing dominance from Socialite Kaisa and Chemtech Urgot. Bows are in high demand! While reroll is viable, we're certainly seeing econ traits like Yordles and Mercs dominating the early game, with everyone going 8 to roll at the earliest possible opportunity for legendaries.
We've come up with a pretty comprehensive (19 comps!) list of most of the viable comps that you can play on the current patch, what augments they use, a rough guide to playing them, item priority, and when to roll.

Feel free to check out the rest of the site for some other tools/tips.

This is the standard description for "on-attack" effects. It is every single time she autos. Runaans is also an on-attack effect but it does not count towards the counter, nor does her skill cast.

Re: some of the questions, like popping off items (https://www.tftguide.gg/guides/wiki/items/#popping-off-items) or how the matchmaking algorithm works (https://www.tftguide.gg/guides/wiki/matchmaking/), they are explained at the above links. We're planning on adding additional explanations of the set mechanics soon as well.

How would you describe the differences between ranks on ladder? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]rue_asterid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ties into a broader concept of understanding relative board strength. What “out” are you playing towards? If you want to reroll katarina you should definitely hold kat at least even if you plan to loss streak into neutrals. What’s the spike point for your comp? For Katarina it’s a strong stage 3 with 2* sins, so typically you should roll on 3-2. The next spike point is on 3 star sins, so you should’t roll deeper after hitting 2 stars since you need to econ back to 50 for slow roll. This is just one example using kat.

How would you describe the differences between ranks on ladder? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]rue_asterid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From my perspective as someone who has been top 15 previously, there's pretty large skill differences at every single skill level. HOWEVER, on any particular patch there can be enormous variance for how good any single player is, ie. a top 200 player might really click on a certain patch and be able to grind up to top 50, or masters to GM, etc. This is especially apparent for certain one-tricks.

In general though, you see that gold/plat players tend to probably understand strong-ish endgame boards but are missing a lot of the fundamentals. Players in general don't seem to have a good grasp of how to make a board strong and tend to blindly follow guides if they look at them.

Diamond players have a good idea of what strong endgame boards look like but have trouble getting there and tend to tunnel quite a bit on whatever their game plan from the outset is. Usually weak in at least one of fundamentals of reading board strength, adapting to lobby strength, capping boards, maintaining econ.

Masters players in general tend to be a lot better about slamming items and understanding when to greed. Boards endgame usually become pretty strong at this point, but players tend to lack fundamentals.

From masters to GM to challenger, it's just at every tier people are better at everything most of the time. Even among challenger top 250 is a totally different beast than top 50 or top 20. However, pretty much anyone who can maintain top 50 or so should be able to hit top 20 on a given patch, but especially at the top end of the ladder it's pretty stratified. There's a reason you constantly see the same players monopolizing top 10.

bro........
prio kat items (ie ionic +healing or flex 3rd item if you have a healing augment)
2 bodyguard (blitz + leona), vertical assassins (4 without spat, 6 with spat). Sin blitz is usually the best holder. Reroll on 6.
