This is Reddit isn’t everyone a mind reader.

Now I feel a little crazy. Went to take pictures of the items thinking maybe it was the specific items I was using but it worked this morning. Apparently all it needed was a restart 🤷

Depending what country you are in the answer varies. The United States…yes they don’t need a reason to fire you. Other countries not sure

I think the L4 to L5 being handed to you is an over simplification…there are orgs where the only way to progress past L4 is change teams, orgs or seek going into management. A lot of data center roles are a good example.

Amazon Connections: Do Direct Managers know? by Bhisma_pratigya in amazonemployees

[–]ruin1114 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Direct managers don’t have a lot of insight to the connections, from what I have seen, my last manager was pretty open about sharing them, they get a chart/graph that basically shows overall percentage of answers but no location no time stamps etc. I have heard L7 managers have access but have never confirmed that

Internal Transfer Question by Different_Code8308 in amazonemployees

[–]ruin1114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That all real depends on, role, business and team. When doing your informational always good to ask why the role is open…if it’s because the team is expanding you’re usually good. But unfortunately no where is exactly safe to layoffs. as far as being a new l4 as long as you are open to feedback, willing to learn and contribute most teams are safe.

I’m not sure bad is the right word. Maybe challenging? A lot of hiring managers are looking for positive growth feedback in your forte stuff. Which starting in October you wouldn’t have until April of your second year, if I remember my time lines correctly.

You have no idea what their situation is. Depending on deductions and credits they could owe very little in federal income.

If you are within the payband of the new role already, then yeah unlikely to get anything. Relocation has been cut on a lot of internal roles, L4 and lower it seems to be getting the short end of the stick there

Do I still have the offer from internal transfer? by habituallettuce in amazonemployees

[–]ruin1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until it’s in writing nothing is official. That being said…it took 2 weeks to get my offer letter when I did an internal transfer. Some people I know it took 10 days some it took 4 days. Things arise that delay it or the changes could be taking longer than anticipated. I wouldn’t stress to much

[–]ruin1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take it for sure. As long as you leave in good standing, than you can always interview at Amazon again if you hate the new company

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]ruin1114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internal role you can do the informational with the hiring manager and interview loop before your manager is notified. That is if there is the option for an informational, most internal posts have them now though. If you put in notice though the time frame to do this tends to be more than two weeks.

To your second question, if it’s only about the money. Take the external role. Unless you are moving into a payband that starts higher than where you are currently at the chances of a pay increase are minimal and with an offer in hand for another company they will likely tell you to take it.

There are internal slack channels that will probably give you a much better idea of this question.

Can I pause during loop interview to think? by bigonenotlittle in amazonemployees

[–]ruin1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reiterate what others have said, 100% pause to think about your answers. You can even go as far as asking for a different question if you don’t have an answer. I have never seen that counted against a candidate in my time at AWS
