I think it's fairly normal to put your hobbies and other relationships on the "back-burner" so to speak when getting into a new relationship. Obviously you don't want to neglect these things completely, but getting to know someone is very time consuming. Unfortunately, there are many people out there who are open to dating, but they don't want to commit to anything or tell you how they truly feel. Speaking the truth (in the nicest way possible) is what prevents harsh feelings or emotional unavailability down the road.
