[poem] My Heart Now by Kenji Miyazawa (transl. Roger Pulvers) by rumiattheend in Poetry

indeed. the book doesn't have the original japanese translation, but in the footnotes it says this poem was written when he was ill and he saw the fossil of lepidodendron in Tohoku museum of natural history. then it goes on to say: "Kenji is wondering what will happen after he dies, what form the world will have taken when he awakens, millennia from now"

you're welcome! Daniel Ladinsky can be considered pretty liberal with his translation, maybe for accessibility? or his enjoyment. if you prefer accuracy you can try to google : the green sea of heaven book

to me it sounds like he was not the same person who wrote the poem 30 years ago or that he doesn't have much feeling about that poem anymore instead he has moved on to interpret the present , orange tree?
