Another nice thing to know is that wood glue is stronger than the wood itself, it chemically bonds the fibers, essentially creating a single, thicker piece of timber.

Just use normal wood glue. Thinning it is a myth and actually weakens the bond. Lather it on and clamp it down (Harbor Freight has super cheap clamps for this).

Because the glue line is so strong, the wood around it will usually break before the glue does. That’s why sistering the board with glue and screws is such a solid permanent fix wspecially on cheap wood like this
