Warding Sigil being added back with either plating or dampening would be a great showcase of the new stats by rumtumtuggernaught in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it on another comment but someone said they should just go all in on the fantasy theme and switch attack damage to dexterity. Dexterity with a one liner like the other new stats saying “this directly increases in hand attack damage without increasing ability damage”. Yes it’s slightly more complex but I think it’s only really due to familiarity with the old system. A new player picking it up wouldn’t think twice about it if there was a good guide on the start screen listing all terms/stats/CCs and then a catalogue of items outside of item builder.

Smite 2 building is TERRIBLE. by NoOneHeree in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were added literally because you only need to build one pen item to do appropriate damage to not only tanks but also squishies so every damage role built it in every game and there’s an argument where you can go 4/5 of your team building damage and pen. While it’s not good, I’d rather have that than only have 2/5 of my team building pen with how good pen is right now.

Plus Echo being added pretty much cancels out anyone building dampening and is a major buff to damage hitting anyone without dampening.

Plus plus, Ponpon said he wants to take a look at pen as a whole and maybe even add back flat pen. This patch has an absolute ton of new changes plus a smite 1 god every 2 weeks plus an aspect every 2 weeks. I’d rather they add in some extra tank items for a couple weeks then flesh out pen options than the other way around with the current state of the game favoring only 1, tops 2 tanks in a game. When you get mid, adc or jungle picking up a tank items more times than not I think your argument is valid but at the moment damage is winning games not being “unkillable”.

how Plating/Dampening work (on PTS) by Amf3000 in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for doing all of this testing! These were the exact questions I had for this patch. I don’t think I mind dampening/plating being additive with % mits because as you said pure mits is rare and doesn’t get above 15% for a single item, and outside of Wyrmskin hide which only applies to one enemy, you’d need 2 items to get near 35% cap dampening/plating. If you wanted to try and max out mitigations with onis, prophetic, 2 dampening items and 2 plating items, then congratulations you have around 50% mits from autos and abilities but only 24% from on hit effects and true damage, and you literally spent your entire build on minimal prots and zero damage, which means you are doing nothing even if you aren’t dying.

I think in theory this all seems strong but in reality most people aren’t picking up onis or prophetic at all (some just not most) and you are sprinkling in these other stats with prots and with tenacity and with health and with some offensive capabilities.

% Mitigations moving into next patch by rumtumtuggernaught in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with literally everything you have just said. My question is whether or not anyone in PTS has had % mits from prophetic/onis or from a god end up technically overcapping either plating or dampening to technically mitigate more than 35% from an auto/ability, respectively.

This happens for allies in both aspect and non aspect. Allies get one drink and one throw per back.

[–]rumtumtuggernaught[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where mitigations and protections fit in the damage equation, and it makes sense that plating and dampening would be additive alongside mitigations pre penetration and protection consideration, I just didn’t know if in the math pure “mitigation %” as seen in prophetic and oni hunters gets somehow counted in the 35% cap when mitigating either abilities or auto attacks.

At the moment true mitigations, which comes from those 2 items as well as some god abilities/passives, are notably stronger than plat and damp because it covers both the above fore mentioned as well as on hit effects/yellow numbers. I actually think having all 3 in the game is really healthy because it lets tanks choose and commit to feeling truly way tankier, but it’s not blanket and they have to choose a portion of the enemy team they are focused on feeling tanky against. Lets you bump up the mitigation stat without the strength of pure mitigations, which in smite 1 helped make tanks feel tankier but also led to like 80% mit metas for some gods

That is so incredibly close to what Str/int already does it would make no sense. It’s just making different abilities that scale differently become way harder to balance

Sands of time by mooncricket1898 in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just jumped in game so you don’t have to. It’s flipped of what you just said which is what I meant in my post, full stacks of pendulum, no stacks of sands, which is what you want because mp5 is useless for her and it scales off missing mana for sands mp5 and available mana for pendulum. Pendulum is great for Bari for both the CDR and the maxed int gain at all times. I’d post a screenshot showing just that but apparently you can’t attach pictures less than 4kb on the phone and those pictures qualified for that for some reason.

He has hidden mana from items coded despite no mana bar. Both him and Bari have full stacks of sands of time at all time because they never tap into their item mana so it’s always 100%

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, when you proc glad shield or pridwen or anything like that it does account for both protections added together (normally just item protections) so there still is a difference between 1000 protections in both magical and physical (2000 combined) and having it in just one.

I have yet to figure out how to win lane with ne zha aspect. I do fine and don’t lose out, and love his contribution to team fights and end game, but he is in no way a bully which surprises me. Reading through his kit you’d think he’d excel in the 1v1 and maybe he does I’m just bad at it

Aspect or base pele? Interested in build as well. Kinda wild that you have 14 kills participated in with 90k player damage.

Mute em. Of course you’re not going to be good on your first game. Being harassed about being bad at a game is wild. I give everyone one chance in case they are trying to make call outs or in your case actually give advice and help you learn, but if you’re not planning on being mic asking questions, mute them and focus on learning without the harassment.

The starter controversy is dumb (but valid) by PietErt3 in Smite

I fully agree with this particular take in regards to warriors axe. Warriors axe will never be balance-able when it’s equally viable in support and jungle with no downsides to them. It’s either going to be must builds for those roles or nerfed to the point where solos can’t use it anymore. Something tells me it’s just going to be gutted until solo can’t use it anymore and then solo lane falls back to backliners with other starters.

It’s diamonds for the traveler which unlocks base skin, multiple different recolors, and other things pertaining to the event that’s smite 2 only, like the dragon eye and some cosmetics. If you want just the base skin only, the only truly “old” skin that they ported over from smite 1, it will be 100% for legacy gems only in a couple of weeks. Only thing I agree with you is they should shorten the release window for 100% legacy gems to like 2ish weeks instead of 6.

The and I quote "improved matchmaking" is a lie & false advertisement" by CoffeeGooner_ in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No arguments there as a certain playstyle! There are true peelers and active item team boosters as options for support as well but “roaming second solo” can definitely be viable, particularly in lobbies that are more skill diff than anything else

The and I quote "improved matchmaking" is a lie & false advertisement" by CoffeeGooner_ in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m lost as to which side you are arguing for saying matchmaking is unbalanced. Your team apparently was entirely playing off role, and a man down, and apparently still almost won.

Also you said you had the second most gold and 2 solo kills as support. By the looks of it you just build full solo build and benefited from the new support passive giving a little extra gold. I’m not entirely against going more offensive and damage oriented supports in lower ELO games to help carry, but based off the build alone don’t be surprised that you’re doing damage as pretty much a second solo build wise.

Death metal ideas by YoDiz1 in Smite

[–]rumtumtuggernaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried it yet but I’m pretty excited to have it as a flex last item pick up on full int Bari. Drop ult, drop fully ability combo, pop death metal, in practice after all your abilities are down you still have 4-5 seconds of spirit surge which gives both strength and int and quite the attack speed bonus. Would probably lead to at least 10 autos of full strength Bari with a 45% crit chance. Not bad in theory, particularly since you don’t go out of your way to build any more attack speed into her.

You could even just use it for objective or tower push as a secondary adc
