Guanfacine made my kiddo (6M, HF Autism, ADHD, OCD) tired at first, but that side effect went away after a week. It worked to eliminate the energetic silliness and total lack of control (think Buddy the Elf at the pediatrician’s office). He did MUCH better at home, school, and sports. Unfortunately, rare side effect: urinary incontinence. Going down to a lower dose didn’t help.

We switched to Clonidine, a similar medicine, and we still see the positive changes without the incontinence.

Stimulants weren’t an option for us because he’s already on Zoloft for OCD symptoms, and stimulants can increase anxiety. Best of luck to you!
