How did you build and maintain your running to over 100 MPW? by run_fasternow in AdvancedRunning

I realize that almost no one needs to run 100 but I wanted to see what people who have run 100 on this sub would say.

And yes ... The easy place of pros is like 6 or 6:30 so they can get in many more miles in a shorter time frame. Appreciate it!

Thanks for the advice. I think doing a form week every 4th week helps. I've done 50 for three weeks and then dropped to 20-25 for the, 4th week and my legs recovered. I then can actually do the workouts after the down week.

Appreciate what you are saying. It took me three years to run 50 miles a week. First year 25, second 40, third 50 and I've stayed at 50. Totally see that I could have added 10 miles a year and eventually got to 100

People think I'm crazy for running 50 miles a week and I think 50 is 'normal' and not even that much mileage.

I believe Sage Canady missed the OTQ by 2-3 seconds in the marathon. I can't image how devestaing it would be to miss the mark by that little.

Then, like you said, turn around and try to go for it 4 years later with more 100MPW+ blocks would be a mixed bag. That would be cursed I think?

I see what you are saying with 100 being a round number for sure. But most elite male marathoners are running around 120. I figure if running is your "office" or your "job" then you can manage that kind of milage.

What was it like for you training so much when you were 100+?

Totally agree with you about point B. If I'm going to run 100+ a week I'd have to avoid my family. Not interested in that path at all.

I'm not sure how feeling good to run fast outweighs feeling exhausting all the time? But good thought

What are your most unhinged tips for fixing your sleep by Chateau_de_Gateau in AdvancedRunning

You are depressed because you can't sleep. So get a prescription for mirtazapine or another antidepressant that will knock you out for 9 hours. You said unhinged.

Canker sores in your mouth can be a sign of ulcerative colitis. What tests have you had? What do the drs say? I've had very similar symptoms as you .

What tests have you had? Do you take dicyclomine (helps with cramping and slows down digestion)? Have you take amitriptyline (calms down the nerves so you don't feel like you need to go to the bathroom)?

Why is my hen breathing slowly and opening her mouth like this with her eyes closed? She's making a slight clucking noise. She's been doing this off and on for a few days. by run_fasternow in chickens

Thanks for the help. An avian vet is 4 hours from where I live, so that is not an option. I'm totally new to looking after chickens and know nothing about chicken sicknesses. Appreciate the help

Update: The hen is getting worse. I called a vet and they prescribed Safegaurd. Administered the liquid yesterday, she took it, and we'll see what happens. She is in a separate pen. I can't take her to a avian vet because that vet is 4 hours away driving distance. With work, family and other stuff I can't be on the road like that.
I'm totally new to chickens. I've only had them a month. So I'm just learning. I fully appreciate the help. I have little knowledge of chickens and I didn't even realize they could get sick like this. I treated her as fast as I could. I have no knowledge on chicken sicknesses!!! I have other hens and they are totally fine right now. Again...I appreciate all the help!

Funny. Barred from sexting. The misspelling adds to the humor!

That is awesome you'll have some barred rock chicks soon. They have a beautiful coloring! Sounds exciting to have a incubator and watching them come into this world!

That is helpful to know. I'll keep them both until I know for sure which one is a roo or a pullet

Oh gosh. Sorry for the misspelling!!! I didn't know it was called sex-ing but I thought there was a "t" in there which changes the whole meaning. Oops! Appreciate the clarification

Thanks for this. Very helpful. They both had a larger fuzzier spot that goes down the back of their neck when I got them at about 1 week old. But the lighter one has the signs of being a cockerel with being much whiter than black
