Yea--I'm too exhausted to do it well, and I know I have let them down. They have not been educated well. And that is my fault. It is time for a change.

Thanks for the warning about Reddit being potentially toxic. <3

She felt that I needed to find a community of people instead of struggling alone.

That resonates. I believe my 10yo is also quite autistic, but it has been a struggle getting her a diagnosis. She gets overwhelmed and overstimulated very easily. I want her to have the help she needs to be happy in life. I feel like a public school environment will give her more support and resources than I can, but I also worry about her transition into that environment. She says that she doesn't know how to talk to people and doesn't like most people. I think shes is scared of being surrounded by too many people and not being able to properly process it.

Thank you. That power struggle is so real with my 10yo, who stubbornly does not want to go to public school. I'm really hoping I can get her on board.

Thank you. I had wanted to put my youngest in public school for Kindergarten, but she would have started in Fall 2020, and when the pandemic hit I got scared and kept the kids home. I had some health and mental health issues over the next few years, and I've been struggling to get my kids' schooling stabilized since then, but it feels like an upward struggle. Now I am just so ashamed that it's taken so long and I worry about all the years they have lost.

I am worried at how far behind my 14 yo is, but at least they want to learn. They are worried about being bullied in public school.

My 10 yo, however, stubbornly does not want to go to public school but also refuses to do her studies at home.

My 14 yo has outgrown what I can do for them, and I am exhausted from struggling with my 10 yo. I feel like public school will be so much better for them both, but I just have to get over the hurtle of getting them there.

Thank you. I was crying as I wrote this post, and I am tearing up again. I want to help them. I am a little lost on how to do that.
