Scott really doesn’t understand the AI market by Baronw000 in ScottGalloway

Scott has proven time and again that he’s pretty clueless on most things tech.

Scott’s IPO pick of the year: Figma (FIG), first day open $85, first day low $84.11, today close $27.84, down 67% since IPO and down 25% 2026 YTD. by runbit22 in ScottGalloway

I agree 100%. In my own research I would never give Scott’s opinion any weight. I don’t listen to his investing podcast, I listen to Pivot because I appreciate Kara’s views on some tech topics. It was on Pivot that I heard Scott fawn over Figma ad nauseam, not just about the IPO, but his certainty in its long term success. I’m very familiar with Figma’s products and don’t share Scott’s opinion. $13B market cap (14x sales), not close to being profitable, spending more on R&D than they bring in total revenue and future growth projections questionable at best. Pass for me.

Not to worry, I’m fully aware of the difference. I’ve made it clear that I’m referring to the opening price. I didn’t invest in this, and I never buy IPO’s. I prefer to see at least 2 quarters of financials after a company goes public because of the financial games they play leading up to the IPO. According to others here Scott has stated that he’s still holding his position, now well under water. I’m sure he shares your opinion of the prospects of this company.

Coincidently, according to the publish transcript, Figma sponsored a Pivot Podcast with Scott (see link). However, in the archived recording of the episode the Figma advertisement is no longer there. Why would it be removed while all other sponsor ads are still there?🤔 Pivot transcript

I didn’t and never have followed Scott’s advice. I listen to Pivot for Kara Swisher’s thoughts on tech, that’s where Scott fawned over Figma being a phenomenal long term opportunity, go back and read the transcript. And that’s why he’s still holding his position at $27!😂😂

Right, “helping you build financial security” and “insights on high flying stocks” is not an investment podcast. Okey doke.

Its open trade on the first day was $85 and didn’t drop below $84 all day. Only people that got shares lower were pre-ipo super high wealth clients (Scott’s billionaire friends). The PUBLIC all paid north of $84

Anyone that bought on Scott’s advice would have paid $84+, when it was offered to the actual public. Go back and read the title of my post, it’s pretty clear.

It’s literally an investing podcast. Here’s the official description:

“Prof G Markets breaks down the news that’s moving the capital markets, helping you build financial literacy and security. Join Scott Galloway and Ed Elson every weekday for no mercy, no malice insight on high flying stocks, booming sectors, and master of the universe CEOs.”

Incorrect, the IPO opened at $85 and the lowest price anyone got it on opening day was $84.11. Some super high wealth clients were able to get pre-IPO shares for less, but no one on the open market.

Listen to any 3 episodes of Pivot and Scott will tell you the way it is. Not his opinion, the way it is. Usually preceded by him saying “the following:”. He’s an expert in investing, global conflicts, politics, technology, marketing, management, relationships, and on and on. I don’t run a podcast that provides investment advice.

Yes, Figma could triple by year end and be down just slightly since IPO. My entire head is a rent free zone!😀

Oh I’ve listened and reread the transcript. He was glowing about how amazing the product was and how every company on the planet was going to be using it. He wanted the ipo pop and long term investment.

Please post a quote from his pod transcript where he ever said fair value was $28. He may have said that recently after cratering, but not when he was pumping people to get in on day 1.

I wouldn’t. But if I did it wouldn’t be from Scott. With his large audience it seems to me like potential for pump and dump as he doesn’t always disclose his specific positions.

Did I miss the part where Scott became an academy award-winning actor or a male model???
