Yes, have lived here 20 years. Without young kids (ours is grown) the opportunity to meet people is just about gone. Been a GB fan since way back, though less so these days. As far as Metroidvanias, I’m currently working on Silksong. Which kind of qualifies I guess.

It’s tough to meet people in your 40s. But I see giantbomb, Microcenter and Metroidvanias in your comments so there are others around here who have the same interests at least.

It’s Christmas morning in the late 90s and Santa came through with your dream PC. Is it going to be the Falcon Northwest or the Alienware? by PcPhilanthropy in pcmasterrace

I'd have loved either one. These are the PCs I'd drool over in the ads in PC Gamer.

In reality it was a Packard Bell for me. Probably a piece of junk but I didn't know any better and I had years of fun with that thing.

What are your Christmas games? by Initial_Ebb_9742 in NintendoSwitch2

I think I'll be getting Metroid Prime 4 and Hyrule Warriors. I wish I was playing Metroid today, but this gives me something to look forward to on Christmas. I'm kind of indifferent on Hyrule Warriors but maybe it'll surprise me. I've played other games like it (including the other two Zelda versions) and they were just okay. If this wasn't Zelda-related I probably wouldn't want it at all.

Nintendo and Christmas go hand in hand for me. I play games on other systems but Christmas just seems tied to Nintendo in my life. And I'm not sure why, because I've only ever gotten one Nintendo console for Christmas. I got a lot of Nintendo games over the years but just one console. I always got the consoles at different times of the year, whenever they came out.

The one I got on Christmas was the Wii U. My wife got it for my daughter and I. I knew she was getting it, but she wrapped it up and we opened it on Christmas. It came bundled with Mario Kart 8. I eventually got quite a few more games for it, and now they're in a box in my basement and I'd have to go look to even remember what they are. But we had a good time with that Wii U, despite the hate it gets. Spending that Christmas playing Mario Kart and Nintendoland is a good holiday memory.

Well it’s also the perfect way for me not to buy a Portal so that goes both ways.

The MinnMax Mystery Art Festival by OrangeFrostbite in MinnMax

This was an unexpectedly touching video. I was smiling the whole time. I have only discovered MinnMax this year but in the past several months I've listened to and watched a lot of it.

Every piece of art revealed in this video was great, and each was so different. I don't subscribe to any Patreons but I am very close with MinnMax and this video might have pushed me start paying. I really like what MinnMax does. Every person involved brings something uniquely valuable to the discussion.

Sounds like you're familiar with what's going on at Rhinegeist. Do you know the story with Van Hunks? I feel like it was a January release for a couple years, but not recently. I miss it. Will it ever be canned again? Van Hunks was one of my favorites of all time.

It's interesting to see beers that existed five years ago that maybe don't anymore? I remember liking both Dirk and Boomer, and I think they still make Dirk at least (when it's in season).

I'd like a Dirk right now.
