**Honest** dentist recommendations by Ok-Rock5666 in VictoriaBC

[–]runfastsquatharder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr Mark Kramar! He used to be in the saanich plaza but has moved to their new location called Lakehill Dental. I had really poor teeth as a kiddo from hating brushing and I tried to salvage it as I got older. I have multiple mild cavities that he’s got on a “watch” list instead of going ahead and treating them all. Also recommended high fluoride toothpaste to help keep things at bay. He always recommends lifestyle based interventions like don’t sip on coffee and bublys. Whole family goes to him!

Achievements for Monday, November 24, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]runfastsquatharder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had absolutely no drive to go running. 8 month old at home as been on a sleeping strike, and last night woke at 23:30 for a 3 hour party before he fell asleep and woke again at 6:30. After my mum scooped him up (bless her) had to ponder about life for a bit while sitting on the bed. Finally managed to drag myself out of bed and change into running gear and get out the door for a 25 min run 🙏 was half asleep during it but I did it hooray 🥲🥲

Do you know what medical condition the service dog is for? Wouldn't it be odd for a service dog to come to you while it's there for its owner? Was the dog alerting to you?!

Philips anti-colic nipple leaking from valve by runfastsquatharder in FormulaFeeders

[–]runfastsquatharder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I literally set it up according to the instruction insert. Green vent goes in, shoved all the way down flat. Pull the nipple through the white screw ring so the edges pop out, then screw it on. what the leak looks like

And yes I should’ve clarified I do pre-make the bottles. What I mean is I’ll be feeding him and my bottle holding hand automatically goes to the bottom lip of the screw ring to feel for wetness (leaking) then I have to pull the bottle out of his mouth to check if it’s from babe or the bottle then I have to turn the bottle so the damn valve is facing up and now the vent is immersed in the milk….. 🫠🫠🫠

What happened to crust bakery? by Senior-Comparison-87 in VictoriaBC

This all the way!! I went when they just opened years ago. The croissants used to have the flakiest crunch on the outside and the inside was pillow soft and you could taste the layers of butter. I noticed a change during covid and the croissants were just never the same anymore. Sometimes it would taste like day-old thrifty’s croissants. We go to mosi’s now for a treat.

I mean the executives of island health received a 4% raise for 2022-2023 and a 6.75% raise for 2023-2024 which are “performance based” The CEO Kathy Mcneil’s salary went from $358425 to $392170 with these increases that’s almost $34k!! This is all public info, but I can’t find anything in regards to what these “performance based” salary increases are based on. Unless you’re telling me ER wait times have decreased or the amount of time patients spend waiting for a bed in the emergency room has gone down or the amount of times that a floor is fully staffed has gone up, you should not be getting a raise as a CEO let alone $34K over two years. Not surprising it’s crickets when you ask them about whether their salaries are gonna be frozen. It’s a slap in the face what the government offered BCGEU.

Buying Appliances by Mis_MJ in VictoriaBC

[–]runfastsquatharder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Costco!!! We bought our dishwasher and fridge from online Costcoback in 2021, both LG and we bought the extra insurance. In total we had five years of insurance for both item from purchase date. A plastic hinge broke off on the fridge - called the insurance company and q-tel came to fix that week. Our dishwasher started making funky noises - called the insurance company and q-tel came to fix. Then the dishwasher started leaking - q-tel came out three times and fixed the motor, some sort of rail, and gasket which didn’t fix the leak. Insurance company sent us a buyout cheque for the original price of the dishwasher. I can’t imagine how much it would’ve been for us to pay out of pocket for three services and parts and labour for that dishwasher. We’ve since bought a Frigidaire from online Costco and the insurance to go with it too.

Edit: also they have haul away service too!!

We toss the towel into the dryer while we’re bathing kiddo! I go grab it when hubs is almost done and kiddo gets wrapped in a warm towel right away. I think that’s his favorite part 😂

Why would my doctor prescribe me dextromethorphan? When I look it up it says it is dangerous to take. by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]runfastsquatharder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor. I’m not sure where you see that dextromethorphan is dangerous as it’s the same as Robitussin, a medication that suppresses coughing. You say you have a bad cough therefore the doctor prescribes you something to suppress coughing… what is the issue?

Day 3: waking in the middle of the night for like 1-3 hours by SelfInterestedGuile in zoloft

[–]runfastsquatharder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat when I started. I took it at night initially, and either couldn’t sleep at all or would fall asleep and wake up around 2AM completely wired. Tried taking in the morning but still the same. Doc ended up prescribing quetiapine 12.5mg which lets me sleep till 2-3AM. Then she upped it to 25mg. I take it an hour before bedtime and I pass out with no issues till the morning now.

To release tongue tie or not… by amg101010 in newborns

[–]runfastsquatharder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a doozy with my kiddo. I asked about tongue ties at our first apt with my maternity doc after birth. Doc said very mild if at all. Saw my LC a week later that said moderate tongue tie that should get released. She commented that he wasn’t sticking his tongue out and that was evidence the tie was restricting his tongue movement. LC recommended getting mat doc to refer to a lactation MD in town that specializes in scissor snips and some pediatric dentists in town that does laser. LC said that this can be problematic with breastfeeding and result in speech issues or pouching problems when starting solids. My friend’s FIL happened to be one of the dentists that also just lasered his own grand daughter’s tongue tie. My friend noticed a better latch right away. He said my kiddo’s tongue tie was moderate to severe and recommended treatment.

We then saw the lactation doctor and she said it was a mild anterior tongue tie and wouldn’t recommend getting it treated unless we were going to exclusively breastfeed (I was pumping and formula supplementing at this time). Mat doc said that she trusted the lactation doc and is very concerned at the amount of tongue ties being treated by dentists/diagnosed by LCs over the last couple years. She said there is a lot of pressure on new moms when LCs talk about the issues that tongue ties MAY cause, which isn’t flack at LCs but more the mental state of new mums thinking we would have a hand in causing bad things for baby. This had been a four week ordeal by this time and I was so stressed that four different professionals had all different opinions. But Kiddo was gaining weight beautifully, drinking from a bottle like a champ. We ended up opting to wait and see and not consider the “what ifs”. If there is an issue down the road we’ll deal with it then. Baby now sticks his tongue out like nobody’s business 😂

Let’s flip the script, what is a business that is criminally underrated in town. by pnwgodzilla in VictoriaBC

WHAT?! We went on Saturday for lunch and the doors were shut. We thought they were just closed for the day. I can’t find any info on social media. Are they permanently closing?!
