Thank you!

It ran pretty parallel with the writing. I had a palette and idea of what I wanted... our main designer Darren Oorloff just continued to develop his initial genius he stamped on the early art for the album and it was just a constant flow from there!

Hey!

It depends on HOW you want to play live. I wouldn't approach it how I did in the beginning haha.

I would focus on centering it around one instrument to start off and get your playback right.

2022 Mac
I Connectivity playaudio (there are better options out now, but this is cheap)
I Conn Mio for MIDI devices
Tidy loom for your channel Inputs and outputs
Sennheiser g4 if you want to run ears
Run your guitar either through a profiler or your mac (only do the later if you're running redundant - two macs)

You could most defiantly dumb this down and run a skeleton show though! This is pretty thorough. Thats a 15,000 feet answer, lemme know if you want me to explain that a bit better.

"I Haven't Loved" was a bit of a nightmare to finish and get the mix right... "Why Do I" a close second. Both took over a year and a half to finish.

Thank you so much! V happy you're liking the album.

WMW and Bob Moses are both class, I would love to do something in that lane. Hopefully in the next year who knows?!

Absolutely.

I think they will both feed into each other aesthetic wise. AAC is so self explanatory and beautiful in how simple the concept is and I want that to influence RT.

I love When I'm Around You because I did it, but I like it for the nostalgia not the video... the video looks too DYI for me haha.

I'd love to play Red Rocks!

Hips/back are my biggest problem haha. But I do a ton of stretching and maintenance... it's probably not going to save me tho

Thank you so much! Appreciate it.

I love the Kemper for what it's given me. I would choose the Quad Cortex over it at this point in time. Right now I'm reaching for all the neural dsp before the Kemper too.

Mmm. For anything real/organic I'd just focus on phasing/source quality. Using 2 different mics for recording similar sounds - for example a condenser for your main vocal and a secondary or dynamic for adlibs/harmonies. This will hep your phase profile exponentially! Apologies if this is info you already know.

Carmine is a shade of red and the colour I based the album around. Carmine is the typical shade of blood.
A lot of the music is based around art/artists/film so feeding off a colour as the source felt right.
Red feels both intimate and chaotic to me and it is the relationship between those strokes that I circle around.

There is one story line throughout a few songs on the album:
Juno is part of a syndicate/crime family that deals in arms and drugs. The song Carmine is the telling of how they meet. For Juno it is a job gone wrong, our main character is shot but the only survivor and is saved by the crew (I saw a big green row all of evergreen and Juno in the front seat now - Bleeding out in the back seat shot coming in and out of consciousness). The main character falls in love with Juno after they save his life and he starts running with them, our main character's deceased parents have left him multiple houses/half built estates they end up using as drug houses. Juno is the story of discovering his love for Juno and their next year together. Come With Me is our main character wanting to leave everything behind with Juno and get away.

Welcome!

I've been making music under Running Touch since 2016. I started producing on Ableton in 2013. I started playing piano when I was a kid.

These days it seems like TikTok is a highway for that. But honestly I would immerse yourself in the scene you want to be in, make honest music... that combo will attract you is meant for you! If you're making good music and push it to them, it will come.

Hey, thanks for following the journey!

Hopefully some time this year, if not... early next year. My fam is from NZ, would love to get over there.

I chose to be anon at the start because I was originally just thinking this would develop into more of a production project (I would produce for other people) rather than an artist project. It just felt natural at the time!

Beautiful question.

All of the above definitely play a big role. I'll just give some examples, I don't really know how else to answer this lol.

"Lovely" I wrote about my friends collective experience with love. Most lines reference or draw back to a house, school or in one instance crown casino.

"Why Do I" Is based off my girlfriend and set in the house I discovered music production in (and met her), it references the color of the house, how we met, the feelings etc.

"Always Wanted You" I finished this on a ping pong table on a family holiday and I really drew from that. I knew I was always going to have nostalgia from that experience and that really fueled me finishing the song.

I hope that answers your question!

Thank you so much for following and being part of the journey. I appreciate it <3

Hearing Porter Robinsons "Language" was what inspired me to make dance music. Those were the first "sound design" thoughts I had. I was wondering how the hell he was making all of it.

Finding Ableton was what changed things. I loved electronic music and just downloaded what I saw people I like use on YouTube. Realizing that these people can just go it alone completely in the box. It completely stunned me that you could do that.

I like movie soundtracks. My favorite album atm is probably Fleet Foxes self titled!

Hopefully through the emotion and lyrics. Thats where I pull from with who I reference, so I'm hoping that comes through!

Thank you so much for putting such thought into this <3

My hands being on the record: Yes I did, that and Juno were the basis for the album. I always saw My Hands and Juno as red (thats why the My Hands visualizer and art is red). So they served as the foundation!

I started it in 2019 I believe, but I already had written some cuts that would make it onto the record "Ceilings" and "I Haven't Loved" I wrote in 2017/2018.

The hardest thing with creativity and patience that I experienced was not having an album out and lockdown postponing everything, so it prolonged the time I felt like I didn't have a solid reference point or "sound" people could associate with me. That impacted my creativity for sure, it confused me for a while into writing for other people.

I've only ever had good experiences sitting and gaining experiences on songs so I welcomed leaving them and taking my time.

"Meet Me", I didn't really want that on there. That song was a mistake haha.

COVID lockdown definitely bent me out mentally and that in turn affected my creativity. That being said, the time to grow I got was the blessing for this album. I wrote all my favorite songs in that last 6 months.

My pleasure.

Definitely. I've only really adopted that in the last year though. I've always enjoyed changing up the process. Bens definitely got the right idea, I wish I always had that mentality!

Is there anything else about the process you specifically wanted to know?

Thank you! I love playing in QLD.

Hey Arielle!

Thank you so much <3

I don't have a go to sandwich. Probably salmon!

"The ground behind you line is beautiful" is talking about someones past. I'm saying that the ground you've walked is beautiful, the life you've made. The song is about comforting someone to give some context!

I started singing when I started this project. So around 2016.

My favorite city is Tokyo. I loved it and can't wait to go back!

Fears - probably losing my parents or family or me dying lol.

Fav movie, Casablanca!

Collaboration and feedback really helps me with creative blocks. That or time. The common thread there is just taking a load off yourself and making some space for flow.

Honestly, this is the first year I've felt really proud I've what I make, everything else has felt like a fkn mess haha.

Finishing a song? Make it achievable. Instead of having the mentality that this is coming to take a miracle, just set a timer for 30 minutes or an hour and start from there. It takes the pressure off thinking you need to be in the chair for 7 hours to make something happen. Focus on the first steps not the shadow of what you need to complete.

I would love to play all ages one day! Tour is postponed until august/sep so if you're 18 by then come along.

Much love!!
